RSS feed torrent loading issues
-
I seem to be having problems with the RSS feed, its been working fine for a long time but now its not loading releases. I've regenerated the link and tried it in both rtorrent and qbittorrent but I cannot get a torrent to load.
rTorrent is givving load error (1) (4) & (5) and qbittorrent gives no error?
Is anyone else having any issues?
Thank you

@bigjohnv12 When did this problem start? I know our system admin @Joker recently fixed a bug with it, but perhaps there's more to be fixed?
Also, is this issue still happening currently? If so, any information you can give on where exactly the feed goes wrong would be helpful for our system admin to fix the issue.

@MrMazda Hi sorry for the delay coming back, i have just checked and still seem to be getting the same problem, if i copy and paste the url it downloads the torrent but wont load it into rTorrent so im actually thinking it may be something on my site.
but i have also tried it it in qbittorrent and they are not loading either.
I dont know when it exactly started but it was within the last 48 hours

@bigjohnv12 Interesting... That seems to be about the time that @Joker fixed a known bug. Perhaps in doing so, it broke something else?

@MrMazda honestly I gave up on RSS for private trackers long ago. At least on qbittorrent I've ran across the same error in multiple websites, it's hard to believe that all private trackers have equally misconfigured their RSS feed...

@MrMazda its still seams to be playing up at the moment

Same issue here. Started about a week or 2 ago, give or take. and it's not all the categories.
I use RSSOwl and I have broken out about 12 individual feeds based on category, and there are 2 URL's are failing currently with an "Invalid or Malformed feed" which is really just a generic failure message in RSSOwl.
This one is very specific (cat 12)
https://www.gaytor.rent/rss.php?num=99999&cat=12&passkey=xxxxxxxAnd this one is like a "catch all" for the feeds I didn't need to break out, so it could be any one of the categories that is the issue**:
https://www.gaytor.rent/rss.php?num=99999&cat=1,7,63,32,35,38,40,65&passkey=xxxxxxx
**If i remove category 35 from the above URL, it works fine.
So a least 2 categories seem to be broken (12 and 35), but not I don't pull feeds for all categories so there could be more.
(passkey has obviously been edited for this post)
As BigJohyn noted, plugging each into FF simply prompts to save the file rss.php, which if I do and edit, looks like XML as expected.I have not run it through an XML parser to verify it is valid XML, which might be a next step.
My guess based on my experience of what can go wrong in XML, a torrent in the feed(s) has character(s) that are problematic. (aka, improper un-escaped special characters, etc). I say that because I had a third feed that failed for just a few days in the beginning and then resolved itself, like whatever it was angry with had worked itself though the aging process.
Thank you

hey folks,
this bug is caused due to some UTF-8 encoding problems which should be fixed by now
if you still experience errors, you could check if the rss is valid by using your url here:
https://validator.w3.org/feed/
if you see any errors, please report the link which generates the faulty result but do not include your passkey

@Joker looks fixed on this end. Thank you
