Greece’s Council of State, the country’s top administrative court, has declared that the slaughter of animals in religious rituals, such as halal, is illegal without first stunning or sedating the animal.
This applies to kosher and a few other practices as well.

The old testament is loaded with animal sacrifices.. and then that wasn't enough so they had the story of Isaac and Abraham. Then they made the sacrifice of JC the premise for the entire new testament.
It's interesting that in the OT, they make it very clear that they don't just sacrifice any animals.. they are to sacrifice their BEST animals.
What kind of insanity ever came up with the premise of sacrificing the best?
In many civil wars, they intentionally rounded up the intellectuals and killed them! (because they were a threat to the ruling class). When the ruling class is comprised of religious nuts, WATCH OUT! They will do absolutely anything, and sanctify it in the name of religion.
