Fan Site Torrents

I'm wondering if something can be done in regards to fan site torrents. The majority of torrents in this category are pretty vague and downloading them is kind of like playing Russian roulette. You literally never know what you're going to get. Often the individual file names look like this "utj0fdQpLV14OSNph81DmktGMdEiJQI1.mp4", there's not really a description of what's in the torrent, and there are no screen caps to go off of. Kind of makes it hard to decide if the torrents even worth downloading when you've got absolutely nothing to work off of. Also with constantly uploaded compilations from the same people it's also hard to know if you're downloading something new or if it's just a repackage of something you've already downloaded. At very least a requirement to have the individual files named with something descriptive rather than a non-descriptive sequence of numbers would greatly improve the experience with these torrents.

I agree. It's a big problem. I would add that it's a problem generally, not just regarding fan sites. I can only think of three imperfect solutions, none of which actually solve the problem.

Leave a comment politely pointing out the problems and asking the uploader to fix them. Nine times out of ten the uploader won't respond in any way, but it flags the problem for other potential downloaders to see.

Report the torrent to staff. Not sure what they can do (they're all-volunteer, and way overworked).

Don't download the torrent. I think that the main reason lazy uploaders continue their bad habits is because they are rewarded whether they do a good job or not; people still download those torrents regardless and the uploadersĀ get the seed points. So in a way. the fault largely lies with all the people who reward the bad behavior by uploading such torrents. If no one downloaded a lazy torrent, then perhaps the uploader would be motivated to do a proper job.
Non of these are particularly satifying, but relly, what else can we do?

Appreciate your response but none of those solutions actually address the issue. This is something that's easily addressed and offenders dealt with.

I have quit even attempting to download those torrents. Usually not worth it. Some of those torrents are pretty big and it's just too much to download it blindly for whoever is working their ratios.
At the end of the day I believe it's the uploader's loss. In a 10GB torrent they could be adding double or triple that to their ratio if they did it properly.
I think the best we can do is that those who are brave enough to download those torrents, help others out by adding screencaps or a description in the comments. I'm not interested in downloading solos or oral-only torrents, so I'm not going to download them if I can't know what the files are. I have more than a TB to use and would be gladly downloading some of those torrents. Right now my spending on them is 0.
But unless this site has rules about fan site torrents, this will keep happening and there's nothing we can do about it, not even report them. I am also a member of another gay torrent website and they have rules about those torrents, the files gotta have a description of what's in them.
Maybe a suggestion for them to do it over here as well?
