        A Nintendo Switch?

I'm saving up to get one myself. I really want to play Mario Odyssey, Smash Bros. Ult., the BOTW2 when it comes out, and the new Astral Chain. Nintendo has done a really good job at getting a wide variety of games for the switch for kids and adults alike. Some of them might seem childish but are really good games too. Like BOTW looks a little childish at the surface level, but it's one of the best adventure games ever made.

No way it is only for kids - most games are family friendly indeed, but there are so many great games that simply make fun without caring about age.
I am in midth 30 and my friends and me still enjoy a good competitive round of mario kart!

Incidentally, Nintendo just celebrated their 130th anniversary on Monday.

              Only for kids ?

Well, the company is run by industry veterans. No child's play here.

That was the general consensus a few years back, but I'm pretty sure people nowadays know better. Though to be fair, they've been doing a few questionable things lately…

I bought a Switch lite recently along Mario Odyssey, Spyro reignited, Pokemon Go and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. I'm 25 and I enjoy each game.
Even if it were meant  only towards kids (which I don't think so); I'd still play despite my age. I grew up with Mario games and many others, and I love to play the new installments. They remind me of my childhood.
Same goes with certain kid's tv shows I still like to watch.

I definitely do not think nintendo switch is only for kids. As time has gone by as the people who were kids that grew up with video games became adults, we see a lot of adults proudly game even the older they get. Great titles in the switch; perfectly portable too.

It seems like one of those consoles which would dominate for the next 6 or so years or probably even longer than the fad consoles (GB, GBA, DS, etc.)

First of all, are you asking about the Nintendo Switch? If you are, then ask yourself this: do you like video games?

If you are, then you have nothing to worry about. Game titles range from for children to adult.

Some examples for adult themed games would be the Bayonetta series, The Edler Scrolls V, Outlast 2. Of course, one can contend what their definition of the statement "Nintendo switch is for kids" would mean (i.e. the games are rated for kids by a censoring body, or playing video games aren't for adults), but in the context of you asking for opinions about a console, I'm going for the former.

The best solution I can suggest whether it's worth buying is checking whether or not:
                        1. the games you want to play are on it
                        2. the games you want to play on it run how you want it (frame rate, etc.)

I own one and I'm glad I do, especially during these times.

The switch is great! Nice selection of games and I'm a fan of how the pro controller feels
