I'm using UTorrent to seed my torrents and one of them has a red arrow, which I've not seen before. Any ideas on what the problem is (if, indeed, there is one)?

      Thanks

Usually, this means that the tracker has errored out for some reason. Usually this is due to an unregistered torrent, which can happen for one of a few reasons. The easiest way to see if this is the case is to click the torrent in uTorrent, then click the "Trackers" tab. If you see "Unregistered Torrent" beside the tracker URL, then you may as well remove it, because the torrent has been removed from the site.

Is this permanent? I've had experiences where a majority of my uTorrent list has the red arrows, but the next time I check (a few hours or a day later) most of them have reverted back to the blue up arrow. Given how long it can sometimes take to seed (I still have stuff I downloaded in 2016) I'm loathe to delete a torrent that could eventually upload further, especially if there are only a few of us with it.

If you get an unregistered torrent error, yes… It is permanent. If however you get something like an HTTP 502 (bad gateway) or offline (timed out), these usually resolve themselves on their own, which would be the case for the times you've experienced the problem.

In uTorrent I've seen where the tracker is offline so all of my torrents are marked as error.  This is very, very rare though.

Usually it's because the torrent has been removed (eg. a copyright claim) so the torrent is no longer valid.  Gotta download fast!  :cheesy2:

OK cool. I'd always wondered what was a-goin' on. Thanks for the replies.

I have to point out the hilarious coincidence of a poster with the screen name "fletch18" asking a question about an arrow!
