Looking for gay movies

More of a rant, really, but technically a request.
As I was surfing the tracker for non-porn movies, I've found that most gay films here are silly romantic comedies, heavy gayngst dramas or rather disturbing tales of debauchery and degradation.
Well, maybe I'm searching wrong, but do we have something else, not causing boredom, suffering or nausea?
Something with event heavy plot, where main character/romantic line just happens to be gay? -
The problem with 'just happens to be gay' is that it's either not mentioned (Dumbledore) or it gets written out,

I'll come at your quandary from a slightly different angle, and forward a list of movies that have some degree of queer subplot.

Often, I find having a memorable gay character within an interesting film is preferable to a middling film that is written, directed and starring gay, gay, gay, if you know what I mean.
This list has some so-so films, but a number of very good ones, I'll leave it to you to pick what appeals. And of course, there are many other lists of this type. Happy hunting.
