Fallout 76 comes out on 14 November 2018.

If you pre-ordered, you can play in the beta.  The beta was supposed to end last night, but they have added 2 more days/times (see attached picture).

It's an interesting concept, but I'm not sure how well it will do.

There are no NPCs, as such, at least not human ones.  Traders are either robots or vending machines.

The story and quests are told through "holo tapes" and written notes.

Bobbleheads are in the game, but unlike other Fallout games, they do not give permanent.  I haven't tried to use one yet, but when looking at the stats, there's a timer icon.  this says that they are either fully consumable or they have a cooldown between uses.

One problem is that you die quite often due to many areas when you get swamped with bad guys trying to kill you.  This wouldn't be a problem but so far each "world" is limited to 6 (I think) players.  This could just be a beta thing, but it's frustrating.

You shouldn't rush to do the main storyline as the game is geared to be done slower so you will end up underpowered when facing the bad guys in many areas.  It's best to do the side quests to gain levels.

Area events are nearly impossible unless a few of you are doing it together.

I enjoy the game for the most part.

Stranger parties are pretty rare, but you will see a lot of friends out running around.  Bethesda did say that Fallout 76 was for questing parties, not so much solo.  They did say they made it so you can play solo, as well., but it's much harder since you quite often get swamped by mobs.

NOTE:  While most of my comments apply across all platforms, I only have direct knowledge about XBox.

If we forget the bugs for a bit, the main problem with the game is that the storyline is driven by holo-tapes and notes.  The holo-tapes are fine but the notes, for the most part, are impossible to read due to the faded nature of the writing compared to the dirtiness of the paper.

Clearly, there are living humans as you see the helicopter things flying around and people talking on the radios.  So it makes no sense that there are no NPC humans in the game.

Events are forced on you if you are in the area.  You must leave the area to stop doing the event.  You can't just go into an area and do a quest if there's an event going.  Events are on a timer, so if you time it right, you can avoid them.  The problem is, if no triggered the event in a while, then you will trigger it.    It would be better if you "signed up" for events in some way so you can go on about your business without having to worry about it.  Event times have been extended so it's not quite as bad as it was at launch, but it's still not good enough.

            OK, on to bug.

Typical of Bethesda, Fallout 76 is full of bugs.  Sadly, in many cases, when they fix one bug, they cause AT LEAST 1 new bug and in some case, they cause several more.

The most recent patch (4 Dec 2018) saw an improvement in the way visuals are dealt with to improve performance.  While there was a performance boost, gold color highlights are now loose and follow your field of vision.  If you shake your in-game head in front of gold highlights, you can fill your screen.  This happens if you move too fast.  If you turn your head slowly, you should be fine.

Seams also seem to be bigger/more noticeable after the recent patch.  You don't really notice it in bright areas, though.

The gold highlight bug was fixed a couple of days ago on the server side.   They did it server by server, rather than all at once.

PCs got their weekly patch already, but XBox (maybe PS4, too) is supposed to get their patch today.   This is due to the lateness of submitting the patch for quality control to Xbox.

Like in Destiny, Fallout 76 saw a secret nerfing of XP in last weeks patch.

I'd much prefer a solo game.

Way way too late for that now.
