India's Supreme Court in a 5-0 ruling decriminalizes homosexuality.

Homosexuality was decriminalized from 2009 to 2013 but recriminalized and given a 10-year prison term.

The unanimous opinion said that no relationship of 2 consenting adults can be unconstitutional.

      ++++

Sadly, there are still 70 countries where homosexuality is still illegal.

35 of those countries are part of the British Commonwealth.

My country is so great. Judges passed such an inspiring judgment. and then the LGBT people distributed sweets in the roads to the passerbys. Its a sight to behold.

I'm not gonna lie, I still rear up when I see things like this. Congratulations India, that is a huge victory!  So much people take for granted, I can imagine the celebrations are huge.  :hug2:

The idea that 35 countries within the British Commonwealth are still rattling around in the dark ages is more than a little sad. The other 35 are also. The following is a particularly chilling reality:

Countries that still have a death penalty for homosexual activity:

            Afghanistan
            Brunei
            Iran
Mauritania, only applies to Muslim men
            Sudan for a third conviction
Nigeria where several northern states have adopted sharia as the law of the land
            Yemen
            Saudi Arabia
Qatar applies only to Muslims, for extramarital-sex regardless of the gender of the participants
Somalia( Jubaland) where several southern states have adopted sharia law
There is legal dispute whether the law of the United Arab Emirates allows for the death penalty for homosexuality, however Amnesty International could find no instances of the death penalty.

            It's a stunning reality.

Brunei only fairly recently made homosexuality a death penalty crime.

This is where Rose McGowan got all butt hurt at the gay community.   The Sultan of Brunei owns the Hollywood Hotel, so gays called for a boycott of it.   She loves to have brunch there, so there was a conflict.   She took the whole thing personally and thought it was an attack on her because gays wanted a boycott on her favorite brunch spot.

Dude, THAT woman is just plain batshit crazy. She actually believes she has this enormous "fan" base. Honey everybody loves a good trainwreck, did you learn NOTHING from Lyndsay Lohan? She and Asia were a match made in heaven, that is until Asia got her wig snatched. Now this dipshit McGowan believes herself to be some kinda female version of bloody Moses, out to lead her peeps to the promised land. Not surprising she would have a total mental blowout over where to eat.

She claimed gays are "misogynists" because we were critical of her crack headed logic about a boycott.

Yeah, well spoken like a true poorly ageing never-was. That woman is actually scary looking up close! Long story short, she destroyed her looks with a lot of presumably "preemptive" cosmetic work - which pretty much tanked what was left of her crumbling career. Like MANY in Hollywood, enough was never enough. If you ever wondered what happens to a total narcissist when her looks go - she is a prime example. Can't look like a woman anymore - fuckit, I'll be an it. She takes major exception to ANYONE who rocks her rather unstable boat. Insane would be an up-sell.

Seriously? This seems like the opposite of progress. Yikes.

Until 2014, homosexuality was only a 10 year prison sentence.

In 2014 it became "death by stoning".
