GTguard with utorrent
-
Since i added GTguard do my utorrent it seems, that down and uploads not working anoymore here on GTru, since i haven't problems on other sites. Is GTguard not allowed here or what other service would you suggest?
thanks for any inputs. -
It would seem that there is an issue with GTguard, as we do not disallow such services. My personal recommendation for privacy is PrivateVPN. They take a minimal amount of work to setup, and from my experience, as long as you set it up correctly from the start, it just works.
I had a couple of minor technical problems when I first signed up, but I emailed their customer service and was amazed by not only their excellent customer service, but also how fast they were at getting things up and running. Literally within a matter of a couple of hours, I got a reply to tell me to try it again because it should be fixed, and low-and-behold… It was fixed.
Also, if you need any help setting it up, I can give you all the info you need, or even help you set it up using TeamViewer. Just ask and ye shall receive.
Also, I know PrivateVPN works with GT.ru if you know what you're doing because I've been using it for some time now, and I'm quite happy with it. It even works over my super custom home brewed network with my MLPPP setup.

I've done back years ago some testing with GT Guard (and BT Guard) about this issue which effected me. At that time, I didn't got to a result.
In the mean time, I understand that the GayTorrent.ru tracker doesn't like IP hopping (frequent changes of the IP).
That is something users of Private Internet Access (PIA) face if they select 'Auto' server selection, too. However PIA offers to select a server (country) manually and then keeps the IP stable. This selection should be done with PIA anyway, because only some countries' server allow port forwarding (of a single port) needed to become connectible.

So I just saw this (old) topic and wanted to chime in and ask a question….
I've been an active member at gtru for 6+(?) months already and have only ever used it with BTGuard (proxy.btguard.com) and so far, I have not had any issues connecting or notices from gtru saying that my ip is bouncing around.
The only thing "i notice" is that gtru always thinks it evening when it's morning and vice versa.
So my question is: Is it recommended that I use BTGuard or other such service to protect my identity on a system that only connects to gtru and is not used for any public sharing?

At this day and age, the only way to really be able to remain secure and anonymous online is to use a VPN service. This is about the only thing these days that will guarantee you that added layer of protection.
