Anonymity solution
-
Quite often, stories are being reported about Trump with "anonymous" sources.
This reminds me of "wiretapping" laws. It is illegal to record another person's conversation - UNLESS you are taking part in that conversation.
That relates somewhat to the issue of anonymous sources. Although it is valid for sources to remain anonymous for various reasons, the person being reported about should be told who the anonymous sources are. Isn't that fair?
This is on CNN's page today:
"But two sources who spoke to CNN on condition of anonymity over the weekend said they would not be surprised if there was a "Rexit" from Foggy Bottom sooner that that." -
I wouldn't doubt that CNN's anonymous sources are CNN themselves.
I mean, we've seen how "honest" they are with stories like the black chick calling for blacks to burn down places white people live, but CNN report it as her calling for peace and calm by editing the video.
Of course white people can never be victims of hate crimes on CNN.
They refuse to question the narrative of BLM and the Evergreen loonies, even when there's video proving they are liars.

I wonder if it is possible for a member of the same race as the victim to be charged with a hate crime?

I don't think you understand how the free press works.
Governor LePage admitted a couple weeks ago that he leaks information to the press that isn't true just to mess with them. Do you really think Trump doesn't do this? He has been doing that for DECADES. He used to call Page Six and pretend to be other people!
