Recently, Russia has been experiencing larger protests against corruption. Many of the protesters blame Putin and his administration for the failure of the government to tackle corruption. The protesters also believe that Putin and the Kremlin has far too much control over the judiciary, the press, and has basically become an oligarchy. With Putin's friends and family at high positions in government.

What's happening in Russia is interesting and I am watching closely to see how things will unfold in 2018 and whether Putin will run for re-election. I hope that Kremlin critic Alexei Navalny get's to run.

This is the basis of Russia's attack on gays.  It's to deflect from the massive problems the country has.

Russian elites have become very rich at the expense of its citizens (sounds like another country….) they send their children to Western schools, and deny Russian citizens their wealth. They don't care about the burden of International sanctions on the average Russian citizen, because they use Western banks.
