Windows 10 Creators Update

Has anyone upgraded their machines to the new update yet? While it has yet to be officially released, you can download it with Microsoft's media upgrade tool. There has been speculation that the upgrade will be officially released on April 11.
I don't plan to upgrade since I have Windows 10 Pro, and can defer upgrades to a later date. Also, I don't understand the terminology of "Creators" update; It is like it's targeting certain users who are "creators" rather than all Windows 10 users.
On a side note, I do hate how Microsoft does upgrades for Windows 10 Home users, which, are not able to defer upgrades. It is like they're guinea pigs, getting the new upgrade first (in a staged roll out most likely) and months later it's expected to be stable enough for businesses and enterprise customers. This is because Microsoft is making Windows more of a service than a product.

I already installed the Creators Update, and it was no picnic. For some reason I decided to look at the display scaling and turn off the custom setting. Strangely enough, I was no longer able to see any wording whatsoever. I could only see icons for the most part. I had to somehow find my way into the settings to do a reset, which undid that horrible error. This was after trying to restart multiple times with no luck. The reset itself felt like it took 30 years off my life, lol. When that finally finished, I installed all my programs and settings back. The moment I installe Comodo Internet Security, and customized the settings, as soon as I restarted, the same issue reappeared. Lucky for me, I found my way into the settings where I uninstalled Comodo and then restarted the computer. LUCKY ME, that did the trick and I could see the wording again, and everything looked normal again.
I checked out some of the changes which appear to be ok. The night light feature has my interest more than anything at this point, moreso than the revamped Windows Defender. With that said, things seem to be ok so far. It definitely still feels buggy to me, and much has to be worked out, even with this update. Hopefully as they patch things up, this will be a lot smoother and functional. At most a 5.5/10 for me.

One thing I will say is that anything that is Windows 10 based needs to be gone over with a fine toothed comb. There is actually a keylogger built into it, among a number of creepy spy things that are enabled by Microsoft by default. This ranges anywhere from WiFi password sharing, to exchange of personal information. It's really creepy what they collect by default.

I agree, one of the main concerns with Windows 10 is privacy. However, during the installation of the OS, you can adjust most privacy settings, plus there are third-party tools that help block more privacy intrusions. Also, if privacy is a big concern you can always upgrade to Pro or Enterprise editions of Windows which give more control over Windows and add encryption features.

Or just abandon Windows all together like I did and switch to Ubuntu…. It's free

Unfortunately that doesn't work for Businesses that require software that can only run on Windows. Linux is good for servers and systems that are not routinely used, but on the desktop, most users prefer Windows.

How important is this new update for Windows 10?

How important is this new update for Windows 10?
Feature updates, such as the Creator's Update, are not important because Microsoft will still support the previous versions of Windows 10 with security and stability updates. If it were crucial that you upgrade to this version, Microsoft wouldn't release the update in waves (few users at a time) as they are going to do.

I use "O&O ShutUp 10" to remove spying, etc. Try it, it's free ;D

Thanks.
I knew that Microsoft spies on us, but never knew how to make it stop. -

It is truly shocking some of what Microsoft has put into their newest versions of Windows… It really is.

Microsoft have actually made a bit of an effort in the Creators Update to give more control over privacy to the user. When setting up on a new computer, the user sees all the default settings with switches next to them rather than one big "Use express settings" button… so that's good.
And while not perfect, 1703 has been the most stable Win 10 major feature update so far in my experience.

After so many updates, finally!

A word of warning before upgrading to creators edition, If by any chance you keep your porn in a windows subfolder, I used 'pref logs' to be discreet the said folder was moved to a windows 'old' folder which got automatically deleted after 28 days without warning. Lost so many favourites and my uploads. Hard lesson learnt - use an external hard drive!
Also would like to echo the concerns about windows spying.

That was bad luck!
I hate it when serious software -software I hope that I use- undertakes such actions..
