Server isn't Responding when Logging into gaytorrent.

Hi All.
I sent a message to the helpdesk yesterday but going to check here to see if anyone else has ever run into this issue before.
Yesterday when trying to sign into GT I kept getting the message " the page won't open because the server isn't responding" I thought the site might be down but noticed my torrents were still seeding. Came back a couple of times and had the same message. Had no other issues logging on to any other sites. Finally decided to check into the error message and when reading about it online I Rebooted my system. Tried a different browser but had no luck.
Then decided to see if I could logon to my account using my phone without using my ip address and was able to sign right into GT without any issues. Left a message for the helpdesk. Was told my account looked fine but if still an issue to let them know. Which I did.
It is very odd. I did get on with my phone but that was without using my wifi/ip address. The issue seems to be my ip address not sure why that would be? The only site that I can not connect to is GT. Reading on another website someone mentioned this issue and talked about using a VPN. I signed up for a free trial VPN and was able to get right on to GT without a problem using my desktop. I then turned off the VPN and tried to access GT again but got the same message that the page won't open because the server isn't responding.
Would anyone happen to know why all of a sudden something like this would become an issue? Hoping something gets resolved before the need to purchase a VPN before the free trial expires.
Thanks in advance and hopefully thinks makes sense to some of you tech savvy folks. :crazy2:

I'm not sure if it's related or not, but recently, depending on what country I use for my VPN, I cannot establish communications with the server. If I set the VPN to the right country on the other hand, I can connect just fine. I wonder if these two issues are related.

I was able to get on earlier without using the VPN. Logged out and tried it again and then got the same error message. Turned on the VPN and was back on without any issue. I think I still have an open ticket with the helpdesk but haven't heard back. So not sure if where I was able to get on for a few minutes might mean the helpdeak is working on it?
I did upload a couple of torrents this morning to make sure those would not be an issue and those seem to be running with no problems. But my uploads have seemed to have been running fine throughout this issue. Again odd that the only site this is happening is GT.

It sounds like your issue may be routing related. There is either something with your ISP, or possibly something with the routing of the internet itself recently that has been a little strange with our site. As I mentioned, depending on what country I use for my VPN depends on whether or not I can connect to the site.

Could my ISP just be affecting one site? Just odd the only site seems to be this one.
This morning was able to get on again without using the VPN. But just the one time. Logged off and wasn't able to get back in without using the VPN. I do notice when using the VPN my torrents all go RED on utorrent. Right now it shows 0 torrents seeding when it should show 109. I think I will hold off uploading anymore until this gets sorted as I dont want to mess up people trying to download anything new I post.
Thanks Mr M.

The short answer: Yes… It is likely more than just one site that is affected. It is likely any traffic that takes that particular route from your ISP across the internet. It is just coincidental that our site happens to be the only thing that seems to take that particular route.

Having this same issue. Depending on the hour of the day I can get logged on and sometimes I can't. It acts like the server is down. If I connect thru a VPN I can get here, sometimes too that doesn't work. So something funky is going on somewhere.

Sorry to here it is happening to you as well seth2000. But also glad to know I am not the only one. Have you contacted the helpdesk? I wonder if there are others that just think the site is down? I hate to have to spend money on a VPN but it looks like that might be my only option going forward.
Today I have only been able to access GT by using VPN but this morning even VPN took several tries before it worked. Same as you. :crazy2:

Oh yes… And in addition to the routing issues that the internet seems to be having as of late, which sometimes affects some of our users, there also seems to be a widespread DNS issue, usually just with the tracker. This can generally be bypassed either by using Google DNS, or by modifying your system's hosts file to include the reference to the tracker. When you combine these two issues, they can become quite problematic for a lot of people.
I personally do not seem to be affected by the DNS issues, as I run my own DNS systems, so I can keep everything running properly. I do however experience routing issues from some countries which result in the exact symptoms that you describe where it either gets stuck in "Establishing Secure Connection" or "Waiting for..."
Generally, when I run into routing issues, changing the country that I'm using for the VPN, or turning the VPN off completely seems to solve the problem every time.
