Reseeding and dead/leve files question.
-
So today I received a reseed request for a torrent that I have. Curious, I decided to look at the torrent page and noticed that it had been designated a dead torrent. I've never deleted the torrent file, nor moved or edited the actual movie in any way and, to make certain, I re-downloaded the torrent, receiving a message that said along the lines of "You already have this torrent. Do you want to add/update trackers?" However that the file (which is queued seed in uTorrent) is not uploading. I might note that the file page says there are zero seeders, which is odd because I have everything in place. So I have a couple of questions about how it all works, despite having read forum posts about reseeding. It may be that I just don't understand the mechanics.

First, if I have both torrent and movie file, they haven't been moved or altered, and someone downloads the torrent, shouldn't the torrent automatically start uploading to that person?
Second, if I have said torrent and movie files, how did the torrent die? Is it because uTorrent put it under Queued Seed?
Third, if I have everything complete and in place, aren't I a seeder?
Thanks in advance for your answers; I'm not exactly a techie and I consider it a victory if I can change the wallpaper on my laptop.

A "queued seed" is not actually seeding. uTorrent is doing something else with higher priority (usually checking files) that is preventing seeding. You can right click on the torrent and select Force Start and that will usually get it to seed.

Thanks for the info. It seems to be working. I would have thought that if the call went out to seed, that the torrent would switch from queued to active automatically. Now i know what to do next time.
