IMO, I think the plethora of media outlets has had the opposite affect on our society. I am in the opinion it has made us less social. Look around and tell how many conversations you've struck up with the person next to you. It's virtually impossible with  their headphones, texting or looking at the internet.

I would like to hear your thoughts regarding this dilemma. The millennials are excused from participating since they never knew a life without social media.

like many IT guys who have to fill the equivalent of " warrant" issued by police for any kind of information they want, I dont have any social media account.

yeh there was an article recently about how being constantly surrounded or having access to information is basically like an embarrassment of riches; you have so many cheatsheets that doing the actual work falls by the wayside. i find it handy to have conversations with people that i barely know, from what i vaguely remember on their facebook profiles or instagrams, but i don't think my observations via screen make for any sincerity.
people also figure that aspect out; that all you might know about them is how they're presented on social media.

definitely social media has made our lives worse.People now are becoming more and more fake. Those who are insecure will try to cover their feeling of insecurity by posting images and waiting for likes, while having anxiety whether or not they get one.And beyond that is very sad to see people with their smartphones everywhere, even on the street while they are walking and they are not watching where their are going.Rather sad, really.

Depends on what you use it for.

I think if anything social media is making people more social. I know it's hard to realize that and understand and comprehend, but listen.

I think there are many cultures, groups, topics, types of people I would never know about had it not been for social media or youtube etc.

However social media can also be a terrible thing. Like someone who feels they have to document their lives 24/7 and post pictures and videos of themselves to show how narcissistic or superior they are to others just to gain acceptance.

I also think you have to understand the pros and cons to social media.

I think with social media, it's made it easier for me to find restaurants or whatever that I would have never known about without it.

On the flip side, social media can destroy your reputation and have bad repercussions so.

I don't know. I'm 50/50. I think there are good things and bad things to social media.
