Heterosexual Pride Day
-
It’s apparently ‘Heterosexual Pride Day’!
Yes, a bunch of straights have come together to celebrate and fight against.. discrimination?
Somehow?
It was no doubt set up by a straight guy who once got turned down by a woman so he decided to call her a lesbian.
What’s next #BreathingAirDay?
;D

Could've chosen a better day for it. Wouldn't you choose a day that wasn't taken already by a much more well-known, older celebration?
"It's the Straight Pride parade, and here comes the Miss Piggy float! …wait, that's just the parade for New Year's..."
I think a lot of people who go for "me too" attempts at holidays don't really think the whole thing through. The reason why we have gay pride is because we aren't, on the whole, supported by the society around us. Everything is not and cannot be presumed to be gay-friendly. We started having gay pride parades and celebrating our orientation because we were oppressed but wanted to express that we were not ashamed. Back then, we went to great lengths to exist in a separate subculture, a whole society separate from the mainstream; if we weren't allowed basic human rights, we would live in our own communities and celebrate them proudly.
I just...don't really see straight people's orientation exactly playing out that way. I wish they could understand the pretty simple reasons behind gay pride, but...there's just no reasoning with some people.

What? We straights have pride days now? Anything to get drunk huh? I'm sure a guy thought of that.
