Muscle recovery question
-
I hit the gym for the first time in a long time yesterday. I must have pushed it too hard, or not stretched enough, because after sleeping on it, I can't fully extend my left arm.
I'm wondering how to help it recover more quickly. Should I be trying to stretch it at all, or should I just let it rest for now? How do I know when to start using it again?

I'm no doctor, but my opinion, REST!
And do see a physiotherapist for the recovery treatment, the sooner, the better.

Muscle pain after your go at the gym is normal, you'd be using all these muscles that you aren't used to using.
I find that foam rolling tends to help my recovery, as does ensuring I eat enough protein in my diet, drink lots of water and the main ingredient: plenty of sleep.

I've never tried foam rolling, but I will keep it in mind.
Concerning my arm, it took two full days before I could open it 180°, and another for the pain to go away when I did so, but it is back to normal now. I've even done arm day again since then. (Less ambitious, though. :P)

Don't worry about it. When I first started working out, I literally could not bend my arms the next day, I had so much troubles taking notes at school that week
As soon as I recovered I went back to the gym, and I went hard and all out. I've never had that problem again because the body adjusts.
