Taking a 73.4GB Torrent and uploading it in smaller torrents (is this fair)
-
I pose the question about taking a 73.4GB Torrent and uploading it in smaller torrents (is this fair) for input from members of the site.
I don't even know if this is allowed and I hope a moderator will jump in and let me (us) know.
The reason I pose this question is because I recently downloaded a torrent of this size which took almost 24 hrs to download. Lucky for me it was a freeleech torrent so the 73.4GB didn't effect my ratio or anything else but did contain a great deal of videos (250) that are really good but I read about members not having enough of a ratio to enable them to download a file of this size if it wasn't freeleech.
So as I said I pose the question about taking a 73.4GB Torrent and uploading it in smaller torrents which a lot more members could download over a period of time, unless of course someone makes it a freeleech torrent again. As well, with my IP service I can download as much as I want with no affect on my download limit if I'm downloading during the hours from 12:00pm till 8:00am so it was a win win situation for me but other members may not have this ability to not affect their IP ratio and download ratio as an 73.4GB torrent.
I am looking for both input from our mods as well as the members on this so please advice. Much appreciated :thx:

As far as I know, the only conflict would have been as a duplicate- but the rules seem clear that you can have multiples of different file sizes. This would fall under that, I think.
Besides, as you pointed out, many of us (me included) wouldn't be able to download a file of that size. Whether because of ratio, or just not having enough space for it. There are advantages for smaller files and I hope this is allowed. I'm sure a moderator will chime in if there's a problem with it.

_Besides, there are members here who prefer smaller size for their ipads and cellphones
Example would be Themed Movie collections, there are movies that I like, that comes in smaller file size.
Mods (I think) have no problem with it_

To download 73gb in 24 hours is great if torrent just started being uploaded. I know files 2gb that took me 2 days to download. As for not having enough spce or ratio to download such a file. You have possibility to download just few things and leave other stuff for later when you have your ratio fixed or get more space. I had same problem with ratio but then I started to upload anything I could find so when times comes when I get all crazy for some torrent and drop my ratio that I would still have normal ratio and wouldn't need to look at that stupid triangle with ! inside. I got so annoyed by it. What size is still accaptable for you? My biggest size was 22 Gb which took me around 24 hours to upload. and made me crazy waiting for it to get uploaded. But when I put it into smaller torrents, it takes me so much more time to upload it all.

When you had a collection "Well Defined Theme A" of ~73 GB and split that lets asy into 5 parts of ~15 GB:
"Well Defined Theme A 1/5"
"Well Defined Theme A 2/5"
"Well Defined Theme A 3/5"
"Well Defined Theme A 4/5"
"Well Defined Theme A 5/5"without adding any additional video file, I'd consider them duplicate to the initial collection. We allow already to take out single video files, but let split a collection again and again in different splices will go too far.
However, if you group them by a different well defined them, so that each of them stands as its own collection, that most likely wouldn't be considered duplicate.
"Better Defined Theme B"
"Better Defined Theme C"
"Better Defined Theme D"How to better define that theme, is up to the uploader, could be by a model, by a body attribute (Redheads, slim, …) or action (Solos only, bareback only, ...) etc.

Thanks for the explanation, personally I wish I could contact the original poster and ask that member to do the split as it's a great upload and if it was in smaller chunks more members could enjoy it as their ratio allows and the original uploader would receive all the benefits of reposting the torrent in smaller chunks. But thanks for taking the time to post the explanation it is much appreciated! :thx:

I agree. do it if you can. I balk at the super large ones too. even the 2 gig ones I will think twice about.
