Truvada as PrEP outside of the U.S.
-
Based in the U.S. here and have been on Truvada for the past two years to prevent HIV infection. Just curious if Truvada is a viable option for any of y'all not in the states.
-
Of course it is, it is available all over the world.
I get my PrEP from Thai Red Cross, with insurance i'm paying $16 for 6 month prescription.
Paying more for my fucking vitamins -
i should move to thailand, truvada is available in the uk at $500 per month, buy generic online from idea which is $15 to 20

I asked about it to my doctor when I wasn't coupled.
He was particularly interested about my "habits" (n. of partners, frequency, precautions used, …),
then asserted I didn't need it (I use condoms, but it would be safer). -
It's extremely expensive in Ontario, Canada if you don't have additional drug plan coverage.
-
We have a prep program in Brazil, but I guess it's very limited, in a sence that it's not easy to find, and not well known.
And I belive doctors are not well prepared to deal with their patients sex live (specially if they are gay) and many will frown upon the subject. -
Greetings from Mexico.
At first I thought it wouldn't be available here, since I haven't heard of it on Mexican news or reports. All my sources about the medicament have been from the US. But apparently it is.
At $9,704.00 pesos for 30 capsules…Assuming an average exchange rate of 20 pesos per dollar it would be $485.2 bucks for ya mate, but is very pricey for the average mexican. Not to mention we don't have medical insurance in the scope you guys do.
Interestingly enough, PrEPs aren't known here. The best ways to avoid infection are still abstinence and the good ol' condom.
Now, considering that we can't afford it here and up there in the States you have groups of assholes using it as a pretext for not using condoms (while your AIDS organizations have stated it should be used in tandem with condoms, not to mention the fact you need to take it religiously or it loses effect) I daresay I would love to skewer and burn every one and each of those so self-called 'Truvada Whores'.

I agree with you about people deliberately misrepresenting the usage for the drug to have bareback sex (against the advice of the manufacturer) but disagree with calling people who do take it and follow that advice as "whores" that's too far.
