No food or non-water drinks (especially anything with caffeine) for several hours before going to bed.  Go to bed starving.  Also, learn how to shut up your mind.  Practice going as long as you can without thinking a single thought.  Focusing on your breathing helps.

I have been diagnosed with a couple of sleeping disorders. My sleep apnea was solved by sleeping on my side. Other sleep issues have not been so easy.

Yes, trying to calm your mind is very important but also having a cool and very dark room is also important. iPads now have a night time filter but you can also buy eyewear that will filter computer colors that keep one awake.

It is often best to seek medical help and if you have insurance that will cover a sleep study it can reveal a lot about your sleep issues.

            Best of luck.

Talk to a doctor and have a sleep study done.  Good luck.

I take care of my insomnia (does not happen that often 🙂 ), with a strictly vegetarian diet, by drinking @least 1lt of water per day (no-drinks) and with a 20km run (while listening Spotify chill music) before going to bed. Then I sleep like a dead  ;D

I don't really think I have a sleeping disorder… I just simply like to stay up late, sometimes!  ;D

Unfortunately, i do have a sleeping disorder.Well, sometimes when i am extremely stressed or i am worried about school or my boyfriend tears me apart, i can't sleep.I sleep after having spend about 3 or 4 hours on the bed without being able to sleep. And i also have another problem.I wake up easily and when i do i find it hard to sleep again. Why?Because i start thinking and then duh, here i am,doing this again and again.I think the problem with me is overthinking,though..

I suppose it is common, if you're worried about something. Maybe you should just find a way to relax. I'm quite anxious, at times, though hardly ever had this made me hard to sleep.

Ever since I started sleeping blindfolded and with ear plugs I've slept way better and fall asleep easily. I usually have a hard time shutting my thoughts off and used to spend a lot of time rolling over my bed before actually sleeping. But with that it seems to have worked better.
Now, something I also do and that can be quite pleasing, is a nice jerk off before bed time hehe

I had pretty much sleep issue since I was little. I might have sleep apnea but never been tested. My two big issues were falling asleep then staying asleep. My Dr. identified me as having anxiety so he gave me a low dose of an anti-anxiety medication that has the bonus of making me sleepy, but doesn't always do the trick (what it does best is keep me asleep for a decent amount of time). First thing I learned was to make my bedroom exactly and only that - a room with a bed and as so has only two functions - sleep and sex. To that end ANYTHING not related to those thing are OUT - I have no television, computer or anything else that might keep me from resting. I generally relax with a book until I'm ready for sleep. I've also learned a bit of self-hypnosis,. which for me is really just any simple thought process that keeps you in a single narrative and not all over the place. This relaxes me enough to sleep.

If you can find tea with hops and lavender, that helps. They also sell mini bags with those two plants and you put it in your pillow and you fall asleep. It's never wrong to try it at least.

Tinci01 : you need to be careful with " hops" . It can gives man gyno specially if one is already using finasteride ( or duasteride or any DHT inhibitors) and above 30 year old.

I take valerian, melissa, passion flower, scullcaps, californian poppy all in caps form, that's like 15 caps to swallow. Almost zero effect on me 😞 but each bottle cost about 10 bucks and last 15-20 days , that I can feel 🙂

it's weird cuz sometimes i feel like i don't want to miss out on anything .. yet …. i need to sleep .

I can't drink anything before i sleep otherwise i'll wake up to go to the bathroom , and that makes me stay awake for a while !!

gaypraha2: thanks for letting me know about hops. I'm not a guy, so I don't need to worry, but it still good to know. Did you maybe try to exercis right before going to sleep so much that your body would get really tired. I wouldn't take pills myself for that. I had time when I wouldn't be able to sleep so I closed my eyes and make my mind go deep inside my head and made me feel like I'm going deep into bed. That worked for me great, untill once I tried it again and starting to feel sick. Like I need to throw up. Now I just look into computer untill I'm totally exhausted then I close my eyes, swith off light and lay in bed. If I open my eyes before I lay down, I get awaken again.
this problem has probably something to do with brain. Maybe with nerves in brain. For nerves is good vitamin B. All of them together.
My dad also take a bath if he can't sleep or goes for a walk.

I often have difficulty falling asleep at night and I feel like I can only take one short nap during the day. 😞
