To bareback, or NOT.. Opinions welcome!
-
Hi, I really love to bareback (top & btm).. There is just something about a raw dick in ass that really gets me going
I've been on PrEP for the past 3 years and have managed to stay negative on monthly testing (once a month with rapid-test kit, and full blood workup bi-annually).. I average one fuck per week..
My question
I just wanted the opinion of my peers - is it safe to continue on this way?Medical professionals in my country have varied stances on the matter. What do you think?
-
There have been cases of people on PrEP being infected in these cases there is a trend of sleeping with multiple partners.
Please note that I'm in no way slut shaming, it is just something(I think) you should take into consideration.

Don't bareback! It is not worth it! HIV is not the only STD.
Only do it if you are in a serious monogamous relationship and are sure your partner is not sleeping outside the relationship. ;D -
i do it with my monogamous relationship, i do a check up for HIV every 6 months, the last time i was clean and he was clean too and we do it all the time. But i deplore it for one night stands!
-
As long as you and the other person are safe, it's ok.
-
Pretty much what everyone here has been saying- bareback is only an option in a safe, monogamous relationship where you both get tested to be extra safe. Otherwise, not worth the risk.

I have never done it raw, and this includes even with a longterm partner as I've had ex's where we were not monogamous or had agreed upon being in an open relationship, and I have had an ex who I thought was monogamous cheat on me and do it raw with some random guy he met online that happened to be HIV+, but when we had sex I used condoms so if my ex did have HIV I was not infected with it.

For my is a question of trust, this is the second time I do it in a very long time, I do trust my partner, I had a brain tumor last year and he stood by me so yes, I feel he is the right one, in spite of all that, I will have a test each year as I've always done so far, I consider this some sort of obligation, I met so many people that didn't care about themselves, less about other so yes, I'd keep making test until I die for we should.
In the end, is a question of trust, of feeling, I love and trust him. Otherwise I would have never done it.

To bareback, or not to bareback…. What a silly question hehe
Is there any other way? :lolp:

As someone who has been living with HIV since 2009, I will say this… HIV is not what you really need to be worried about. There's far worse out there than that. If I had to choose my ailment, I would definitely choose HIV over any number of other things.
In the end, is a question of trust, of feeling, I love and trust him. Otherwise I would have never done it.
This can be a VERY dangerous stance to take. I say this from experience, as this is EXACTLY how I contracted HIV. Just sayin'

What do you mean is there any other way? Doesn't doing one cancel out the other? It's mutually exclusive…
Anyway, some context... I was just gathering opinions - so as to be able to decide whether to proceed with risky bareback sex... or be a condom person henceforth...
Cheers!

Thanks for the valuable input… I'm really glad that you shared your story I actually want to know more about your story... but will respect your privacy...
On another note, I actually don't fear HIV that much because I know that it is manageable... but I just think that it would be an inconvenience in my country as they don't subsidize the meds that I am compatible with if I were to contract it... which country do you live in, btw?

To me, it's more a question of quality of life. I know people who say no to drugs or save themselves for Jesus. They die like the rest of us. If you knew you were going to die next week and some hot guy you're about to have sex with gives you the option, which would you chose. Well here's the news, You are gonna die. If Jesus died for your sins what are you gonna say, 'Not mine, I haven't got any'. And is 'I never experienced exstacy' the best way to sum up what your life was about on your tombstone.
There is no right and wrong answer to these questions but there is a lot of bullshit and propaganda around them. Before HIV became popular the blockbuster STD was Herpes. That's only because they found a treatment for it. Before that, Herpes was considered endemic and just part of growing up. At one time, Syphilis was considered a 'Gentleman's Disease' that a woman should only contract on her wedding night.
So the answer to your question has got to be, 'it's up to you'. There are far worse things in life than HIV. Most STDs have fewer symptoms than the common cold and are far less infectious yet people go around sneezing at work with no shame. Some people are resistant to the treatments and die anyway. Some people are allergic to Alcohol and would die if they drink. Should nobody drink just in case. You're only alive for a short time, enjoy it while you can. But be grown up about it. You know the risks and you chose to take them. Both risk and reward are yours, not your (supposedly) "Clean" (hate that) partner, not your knee trembler with a faceless stranger in the alley

"we're all gonna die" argument is instigating some seriously irresponsible behaviour. std's are not just your thing, by spreading them you're allowing them to mutate and get stronger, including hiv. supergonorrhea already in uk, remember.
i kinda think that hiv is the future of gay community.
you can only catch it and not get rid of it.
it's logical that by only spreading it and not getting rid of it it can only spread through everyone.
my policy is protection with strangers and raw only if monogamous. -

Can you ever trust someone 100% though?
