Library File Observations.
-
Hello,
The other day, I started going through the library from the first page, and I am somewhere in the 50,000 pages now. I see several things from this list.
-
There are bunches of duplicates, I noticed this because there are files from the same studio and the same film entirely that are duplicates, but uploaded (cut up) with different titles, so they don't necessarily track under the same locator.
-
There are also numbers of files that come from the same studio (i.e. Dream Boy Bondage) that are cut up, titled differently, and uploaded as single files, with no association with the studio it came from. So an entire film that came in several parts (as a whole) are cut up, re-titled, and uploaded as single clips. I know that (DBB) and others, come together with multiple files as seen on another torrent services I am a member of. That is also apparent from the Bound Gods/MOE/30 min of torment, groupings… just for example.
The Bound Gods and Bound(other) films per studio, there are a bunch of these files scattered all over the library with different titles to make them singles. For efficiency sake, and search optimization, shouldn't these files come under the same studio so they can be found in one key stroke, instead of having to comb the library for each particular episode. Page searches are time consuming and could be made easier if the library was sorted with the films in their proper place and title. That would optimize what I have seen so far.
Would it not be better to have uploaders identify the clip/movie, per the studio they come from, with the proper title, which would maximize a search for that particular studio, and give you the number of duplicates or files that come from the same studio, that are scattered all over the library. Or if they have the entire file intact, to upload the file complete per studio named or production company. I know, that I went looking for files by specific title and they did not come up in the search list. But once I started going through the library, those files did exist in the library, but were uploaded with other titles and in pieces.
There are also Major Studio Films, IE Bound Gods and the like, that are from major studios, but they are uploaded with either the porn actors IN that film as the title (Who's in the film) OR what goes on IN the film as title. This makes the search function useless, because if you go looking for a major title or film, that is renamed by actor or action and NOT by the studio or production company, that makes optimal search ability useless, so you have to go HUNT in the library for hours and hours like I have over the past few days. You either have to know the actor for one, and/or second, files are named by activity which totally blows the search function.
I've found, in the recent past, on other torrent sites, as well as here on this site that certain scenes lifted from Hot House and Club Inferno, when people rip those scenes from where they are hosted, the audio/video does not sync in the transfer. I downloaded a couple of clips I found in the library for both these studios, and the audio/video did not sync in either player. So that was a wasted download. This is a problem of several sites that have uploaded torrents from these studios.
This is a DMCA issue I'm sure.
This seriously impedes what this site can do, because many files are put up in forms that make the studio invisible to search. So why upload them that way, if people are not going to be able to find them unless they are creative sleuths in porn libraries. This list is long. I've been through more than 50,000 pages as of tonight, and these problems repeat themselves over and over.
I am familiar with porn sites that serve the community from AEBN to Gay Torrents and now this site. Most of the files I have curated across several platforms appear here, in torrent form. The "Gay Torrent" library is only set by what is uploaded. They do not have the extensive library that you have here.
I found that spending inordinate time going through the library so far, that consolidating studios, clips, and full files under the correct titles would lessen the time someone might need to find exactly what they are looking for, because of cut up files, and renamed clips, instead of having to hunt page after page for (the/a) file, when, if it was labeled correctly, and sorted properly, would appear in a general search under heading and specificity. Making this site optimally useful. Right now it is all over the map.

Jeremy, meant to reply yesterday but lost the topic
I am lost in admiration for your project. Sadly I fear you won't achieve your goal.
There are just so many people posting torrents using their own pet methods, there is no one 'correct' method.
Many people choose to disguise their posts for their own reasons, I'm not always sure their worries are legitimate but they think so.
I am fortunate that I can check the new torrents regularly so don't get behind much. I generally only search for duplicates when I seed or a particular movie I can find nowhere else. And with the latter I sometimes have to be imaginative in what I search for.
I am not sure there is a solution to the problem you describe, short of having staff deployed full-time checking uploads.
But an interesting post, all the same

There are also numbers of files that come from the same studio that are cut up, titled differently, and uploaded as single files
This is not really an uploader-based problem.
Every year a studio will film, label, package, re-cut, re-label, and re-package as many instances of monetized content as they can. Titles that were once packaged as Video-A can then be sliced into differently-labeled pieces: Video-Aa, Ab, Ac, Ad, etc. These are rented off through repeated viewings by subscribers in order to amortize a studio's library.
Preventing duplicates is important for uploaders. However, they need not be expected by us to guard all the time against a studio's porn-title craftery. This would be as cannonmc suggests a bit like bailing out the ocean with a teaspoon.

Hey there,
I've not checked this thread since I posted it. I spent the better part of a week, going through the entire library (based on a BUNCH of search terms on the search page) which took me a week to plow through 60,000 pages. Then I refined my search to just a couple of search terms, which then led to 13,000 pages instead of 60,000.
I understand the cut and re-cut for films. I know what is out there, according to website traffic I monitor based on studios and other gay torrent sites. Like I said firstly, there are full films in the library that are whole and titled correctly based on particular studios, some have the studio name, most do not.
Then, I see that scenes are cut from major productions, and are re-cut as a single scene. There are many of those in the library. Today, I went looking for a clip, that I thought I had in my personal library, and for the life of me, I tried several search terms to find it here in the library, and nothing came up remotely close. BUT I HAD seen it during my library tour, so I know it is in there, but it has a title that I did not jot down at the time.
This library is huge and extensive, and it could be optimized further, if one could polish the library and re-sort titles where they could be found in a single search, rather than hunting and pecking for hours, if you don't get it right on the first pass. The titles that are in the library are not easily searchable, by any means, unless you know that exact title yourself, what you are looking for. So really, there are a ton of films in the library, one WON'T necessarily find, easily, because of the way they are titled, even if they fall under a single search term from the list, you would still have to go through the entire library in that particular field to possibly find it, but that is really time consuming, and who has days at a time to go through thousands of pages under a single search field?
When I originally posted this to the Help Desk, I was reminded of the DCMA …
This site is a challenge knowing now what I do about how stuff is uploaded and the lengths people go to to disguise certain things. Which is why I toured the entire library.

We are 'curating' only upload descriptions which are reported, basically as infringing to:
11. Any information, e.g. the title, categories, pictures and description must correctly represent the content of the files shared with the torrent and avoid misleading members about the content. This applies as well to additions, votes or comments made by other members than the original uploader. In doubt, rather than providing wrong information, omit it.
….of the Upload Rules and that mostly based on information provided by reporting members or in comments.
So basically the library is as good organised as the uploading members make them and the others take care. This means members must make reports if they want something in a torrent presentation improved. I can only repeat: Reports, Reports, Reports, …
There are many different correct ways an uploader might name/title an upload. For example:- The models name ('Kevin and Matt' or 'Kevin & Matt')
- The movie name and scene number ('Hot Barebacking Scene 2")
- Studio / site name and models ('Bareback Feeders - Kevin & Matt')
- Adding definition ('720p') or digital file container format ('mp4)
Combinations of above….

DMCA might be a motivation for is wrong titling, however is the wrong action. If a member "fears" his upload will be taken down on notices from the owners, he should not upload it. Period.
As long as a human can identify what the upload is, agents will be able, too and it will still be taken down. The only thing achieved will be a reduced user experience by harder to identify uploads, and impossible to find with a search (and therefore useless once back a few pages).
If something can't be identified it likely will be against the rule 11. of the Upload Rules.
