How to report collection within a collection dupe?
-
Let's say there is an original collection torrent with files a, b, c, d, and e in it. And then someone uploaded a separate collection with a and b; and another collection with c and d in it. The files are complete duplicates of the files inside the original (older) collection.
I remember I reported something of this nature (months ago) and I didn't receive any response, so I am thinking its either not allowed or I reported it incorrectly. So if someone can give me the correct way of doing it or tell me if its not allowed, then that would be great.
Thank you.

In the first post under reporting duplicates.
"Duplicates may be accepted when part of a themed collection."

I understand what you are saying but better a mod to clarify for you.

The only time a collection could be involved in a valid dupe report… is if it were an exact duplicate collection... every single file.... ALL files, exactly the same, as the other collection (aside from included extras, like extra pictures, etc.)
That would be a duplicate.... collection.
ALL other examples are invalid and cannot be reported as a Dupe Torrent.
Best to think of it as a loop-hole, to the Dupe Torrent rules, of sorts....

Actually there is a possibility for a valid duplicate report of a "collection" to another. The rules are quite precise:
"… A collection may overlap with another collection if it has a different central theme. For example, a collection may include a studio series from #201 to #239; with some duplicate files found in a collection about a specific actor; or a resubmission of a site rip after 3 months in order to keep it updated. …"
First, to allow overlap (aka duplicates) with another collection, it must be a collection, which for example means it must have a well defined common theme (for the video files shared). Or in other words, if the duplicates are in a pack, i.e. just a bunch of files without a easy visible or well described common theme, they are duplicate, because not in a collection (and not single video files).
Second, both must have a different well defined common theme, or if not, the new must be an update (!). Less files with the same theme wouldn't be an update.

thank you, but I guess my question was not really stated. My question is really is not collection overlap, more like a bigger collection with many files on it was first uploaded. then a file or a group of files say 3 of the 15 files in the collection were re-uploaded, is it not really under the dupe rules?
I mean, for example, I downloaded a big collection, then can I upload say, 3 folders from that collection and my upload won't be reported for uploading a dupe? My thought was, since anyone can just download the big collection and choose the 3 folders I re-uploaded if they want to download them, then my re-upload should be considered as a dupe. But from what I understand from the comments above, I won't be flagged, did I understand that correctly?

To my mind that would be a dupe because anyone can download any parts of the original by ticking the boxes they want.
It would also be rude because I never see anyone here saying thank you to the original poster, no matter where they got the files.

that's also what I thought, like you can download part of the file. I guess it has something to do with the name/description/filename of the torrent and the search function. The search function of the site is very strict and specific which also include the special characters. I remember I transferred a file from one computer to another and I searched for the file here so I can download a torrent file, but I can't search for it using its name, so I needed to scan the difficult way using the size. I can't remember the name but it happened like this, the name of the torrent for example is boys_dormitory, I searched using "boys" couldn't find it, searched using "dormitory" couldn't find it. After I searched using the size, I saw that there is an underscore in between, I tried searching for it with the underscore, then voila, it showed.
Point is, I guess, members are trying to search for dupes can't find it first time they search, so they already conclude there is no dupe. Can't blame them.

I'm glad they're valid cause they don't bother me at all
Yesterday I found THREE collections with the same file I was loking for and I just downloaded it from the torrent with the most seeders insert nail polish emoji here
