Spammers, flooding and overposting
-
I love this forum! And, yes, I wish people posted more often and that there were more people posting. BUT, at the same time, I can't help but feeling bothered when people abuse the common sense or borderline beyond wich they start to look like seed-bonus-whore-flooders. And it happens here and then… some other week a single user introduced about 20 "new" threads all at once... some of them really pointless or previously - and recently - adressed... In the jokes forum one guy posted LITERALLY more then a dozen PAGES of new topics in ONE DAY!
So, that's my rant for tonight: if you guys are so desperate for bonus points (or is it for attention?) you could at least use the test section... -
I totally agree with you. The jokes section has one new topic for each joke which seems pointless. It would be better if there were classes of jokes such as blonde jokes, Indian jokes or some other categories, where everyone can post his jokes. Someone reading them will also not have to open multiple pages for each joke.

You're pushing at an open door with me.
It is sometimes instructional to check out a poster's profile page. It is amazing the proportion that have a low ratio or 'download disabled'. Not all but quite a few.
In the 'Jokes' section recently we not only had a spammer posting pages of one liners but someone posting 'replies' of one smiley.
But don't forget that every post (even this one) has a button 'Report To Moderator' - it can be effective
PS I did make a similar comment here

I noticed the link now after you mentioned it. I sort of always skipped over it maybe because I have never reported anyone ever in my life. Looks like now it might be used. (Not on your post :p)

:thankyou: :thankyou: :thankyou:
**Funny, I was about to write something on the same issue, when I saw that 'hhsq' was thinking along the lines I was. People not really saying anything or do not have any input into the conversation and only use a word or two, or smileys are the ones I think abuse the system at times. You have to get pass all the junk to actually see the answer that you would like to read and know. There are as 'hhsq' calls them "seed-bonus-whore-flooders" on here. They are only here to get seed bonus points to help them purchase a better ratio or at least it seems like it to me. Upon checking out some of the member's profile, you do find that some do have a very low ratio or close to it. Glad to hear that I am not the only one getting frustrated with all of this. **

I don't know, I feel like "seed bonus whore flooders" is just too close to my official title of "seed bonus whore". I understand where you are coming from because it's certainly taking some of the lustre off of the shine of my position out here earning my seed bonus but there's always gonna be some bitch out there who will do less and expect more for it. All I can say is avoid the seed bonus whore flooders and stick with the always classy seed bonus whores like myself. I'd like to offer up some testimonials unfortunately I am the kind of whore Charlie Sheen should have sought out because I don't fist and tell.

I need 120 points so I will make 120 totally useless posts TODAY! :cheesy2: I'm sure you are all amazed.
Ok, sorry. :blownose:
Yes, post just to make points can be very annoying and ruin the fun for those, who want to read a little more than "meh" "dunno" or something.
My faves are threads in the welcome sections. They have a title like "Introducing myself" or "Saying hello from Vancouver" and then you open it and all you find is the single word "Hello".
So don't lose the humour.

If you find a spammer, use the report button. :police:
I usually don't ban for spamming, but I have been "muting" them. This means they can still use the site and get help through the helpdesk, but they can't spam the forums.
