US: Catholic schools are rejecting the children of LGBT parents
-
From Human Rights Campaign (HRC) email
Just days ago, a Boston third-grader's admission to a Catholic school was rescinded – solely because his parents are lesbians.
But here's the worst part – this is no isolated incident. Just a few months ago, a Catholic elementary school in Colorado expelled two preschoolers (that's right, preschoolers) for the same reason.
And these are just some of the cases we know about.
Has the Church hierarchy apologized? No. Have they come out and said it was wrong to target the children of LGBT families? No. Have they said that they won't discriminate against LGBT families in the future? Not one bit.
Now, we understand that our constitution protects the right of religious institutions to make decisions that may be inconsistent with state nondiscrimination laws. But that doesn't make it right. The Golden Rule – do unto others as you would have them do unto you – should apply to us all.

It happens in the UK as well.
Also, not long ago {a couple of months maybe}, the now former Education Minister Ed Ball, changed the rules so that taxpayer funded religious schools can teach their own brand of hate on issues like homosexuality and abortion. Previously, only the non taxpayer funded schools could do that.
So now gay Brits {and permanent residents} have to pay taxes to fund hate directed directly at us.
Not surprisingly in this day and age of "equality", they can not teach that other minorities or religions are bad.
This is from the same Labour party that, like Obama, claims to love gays the most. While taking every chance they get to stab gays in the back.

LGBT children would be more in tune with the possibility for abuse from the Staff ~ of course they do not want these children in their schools. No one knowingly admits a "Whistle Blower" to an organization with the history of abuse that the Catholic Church has shown through recent history.

Catholic leaders, churches and schools should learn to read their book of rules ie The Bible.
Then children were brought to him that he might lay his hands on them and pray. The disciples rebuked the people, but Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of heaven.” And he laid his hands on them and went away (Matthew 19:13-15).
Also
“Yet you say, ‘Why should not the son suffer for the iniquity of the father?’ When the son has done what is just and right, and has been careful to observe all my statutes, he shall surely live. The soul who sins shall die. The son shall not suffer for the iniquity of the father, nor the father suffer for the iniquity of the son. The righteousness of the righteous shall be upon himself, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon himself. (Ezekiel 18:19-20).

This might earn me some flak, but I think I'm gonna take the school's side in this one.
Yes, of course, as has been pointed out to infinity in religious debates about homosexuality, Jesus was never explicitly against it and was always explicitly against judging and in favor of tolerance and acceptance. However, we aren't talking about Jesus or even Christinity in general, we are talking about catholicism, which holds (or at least the great majority of its adepts hold) that homosexuality is wrong, and that position would be thaught to the child, which would be very conflicting for the family. I imagine when the subject came up in the school it would be very confusing for the kid, and I'm pretty sure the mothers would then object to their daughter being exposed to such "values" creating a whole new controversy that I doubt would be healthy for the kid.
I'm in favor of practicing the religion of your choice and passing its teaching to your children, however, when a few months ago there was news in my city about the first homoparental child being christened in a catholic temple of the state, I thought "It's wonderful that they CAN christen their child in the faith of their choice, but why WOULD they choose one that considers their family wrong?"
It's like trying to get jewish child into a neo-nazi school (take a shot in the internet drinking game for somebody mentioning nazis) yes, it's wrong to forbid him to enter, but allowing it would probably do the child more harm tha good.
Still, as the piece of news mentiones above proves, the cathoilc church's position is slowly (VERY slowly, don't expect to get catholic wedding maybe in our lifetime) turning around, and maybe this mothers were trying to do their part in showing the school staff and children that they are a perfectly normal and healthy family, which is pretty commendable actually. -
"It's wonderful that they CAN christen their child in the faith of their choice, but why WOULD they choose one that considers their family wrong?"
Because at its core this religion isn't based on hate? That even though the majority is against homosexuality it doens't mean they should ostracized themself.
If people were thinking like you, we never would have had any rights anywhere… I don't want to be rude, just to make you realize that agreeing to change your beliefs because of your sexuality would have been exactly the same that leaving a country that doesn't allow gay people to even exist... Which only 30 - 40 years ago didn't exist at all.
Besides the acceptance of gay's children the very fact that they are allowed to preach hate and teach it to children is wrong. If by keep on trying to get them to accept people only on their religious views and not their parents' sexual orientation may lead them to change that, I'm forced to say I totally want them to get their kids in those schools.
Plus, it may be Catholicism but they are still following the bible which says that you may not judge your neighbors for it is god's right only. Therefore, excluding someone because they judge homosexuality is a sin is going against their own religion which is totally dumb.
