Just a quick poll to find out what type of GAYMER you are :)
-
Curious to know about my fellow gaymers. Happy polling!
-
I enjoy everything but FPS. FP games nauseate me. After 30 minutes I feel like I could :puke:
-
Why I cannot choose more then one type of the game? lol I play most likely any genre of the game, from action to RPG, FPS to simulation, even from PC and mobile gaming….. I cannot live without a game... (lol not that serious but truly I have the need to play)
-
I'm an adventure gamer at heart (you know, like the Monkey Island games), so I feel kinda excluded by your poll.
Anything that manages me to immerse in a well realized world and story is just my thing. Current favorites include Broken Age, Coming Out on Top, Pillars of Eternity and Rayman Origins (in coop). -
I usually play PC games, because my favorite one is "Sim 4". It make me experience different life, and can chat and flirt with different game characters.
-
rpg's all the way
-
I would vote for Strategy/Planning/Simulation, but there was no option for any combination of those, so I voted Puzzles; I view my strategy games as more of puzzles in which you need to figure out the best course of action given the clues around you. Games like Civ 5 and Simcity 4 or Cities: Skylies are awesome, as well as the Total War series and Age of Empires. My second vote would be RPG…reppin that old school RuneScape back when I was a little git xD and then Warcraft in High School -_- lol. Don't play too much RPG right now but still play WoW every now and again.
-
Sims 3 most of all. Will eventually get Sims 4 too. And RPGs like Baldur's Gate. Puzzle and casual games from Big Fish when I only have a little time to kill.
Oh yeah. Almost forgot. Coming Out On Top! Mmmm Ian! -
rpgs were my favourites, but now playing mostly sports and moba games.
-
RPG's all the way. When they have a nice story and high replay value, you're in for hours, even days of fun.
Though I would've liked the poll to allow multiple options, since I like adventure and strategy games too. FPS…just not my cup of tea (The Metroid Prime series being the only one I really liked...and I wouldn't dare to call it a 100% FPS)
-
I'm an RPG gamer. I also like Action Adventure and FPS and racing.
The over riding thing for me is a great story.
-
RPGs, point and click, FPS with RPG elements, city sims, puzzles
Hit me up on steam and say hello (same handle)

This is a GREAT question. At 47, I think mine is the first generation that literally grew up with video games. I remember Pong when I was 8, and the Atari 2600 came out when I was 10, so I've seen every system and type of game as it was released.
Like someone above said, I love adventure games. Broken Age is awesome for anyone looking for that type of thing, and the full version was just released this month and it's from the makers of Monkey Island, Maniac Mansion, Psychonauts, etc.
I've been gravitating more towards Steam games recently. Getting 8-10 hours of gameplay for $10-$20 is great. Plus these independent game makers have all kinds of cool ideas that aren't found in mainstream games.
I also like the Nintendo series of Mario and Zelda games. I also really like the Batman Arkham series. South Park Stick of Truth is ridiculous and hilarious, though I think it really requires you to watch the Black Friday / Game of Thrones trilogy from the show, which was season 17, episodes 7, 8 and 9. Those episodes are pretty much a prequel to the game.
I like anything from Blizzard. I played World of Warcraft for YEARS, and only stopped when my bf broke up with me, and playing the game reminded me of him - because we used to play together. But Hearthstone is beyond awesome. Anything Blizzard touches turns to gold.
Back in the day I loved Banjo Kazooie and Donkey Kong Country. I love Guitar Hero and Rock Band, and am glad that they're both coming back.
I really respect games that are genuinely funny. Humor is hard to get right, especially in a game.
I would say, the type of game that I don't like, is the Call of Duty type of games. I just never got into them. I don't find them to be fun. But I like almost everything else.

I'm just a reeeeally casual gamer that sometimes happens do play Mario and Sims.
Actually i'm not a gamer. xD -
RPGs, arcade/rhythm games, fabulous action (DmC/Bayonetta style), platformers/metroidvania, fighting games (mainly 2D Arc System Works-style), shmups/bullet hell… I like and play lots of games. But, like many, I don't care much for FPS. The first Halo game was one of the few FPS titles I really enjoyed (I didn't care much for the sequels).

I'm old enough to have grown up in the Zelda / Final Fantasy era so I love a good RPG or MMORPG.
Into mobas, Action/Adventure and a lot of other stuff as well but definately not an FPS fan at all. If the game has a story I like and just happens to be a run n gun as well then maybe - stuff like Bioshock I guess
