Depression leads to suicide?

Why do u think so many young people are depressed today?
-
I don't think so. However, what I do think is that many people today have poor emotional management. not necessarily that they clinically depressed
-
I'd say it's the modern lifestyle.
It's much harder to get a (permanent) job so it's hard or even impossible to live on your own, how you want, without parents or roommates who can be great but can also be extremely hard to live with - you never know.
Also, we are constantly bombarted with new fashion, music, electronics, and people who can afford all of that are considered successful while those who don't are often laughed at. So if you feel like a failure + people even make fun of you - you can easily become depressed.
It's also very popular to travel, which again - lots of people can't afford so when you look at all the people exploring the world (and you can't avoid that because as soon as someone travels, eats at a fancy restaurant or whatever - it's instantly on social media). And when we talk about social media - people have like 500 friends on facebook, yet they don't have anyone to spend some real time with, which is also actually really depressing. And even when you hang out with someone - they're on their phones half the time which to me is really annoying.
And one more thing - everywhere you look, everything is just about the looks, you're supposed to go the gym, tan, dress well, have a perfect haircut/make up all the time…so much is demanded of us so no wonder people easily become depressed. Our lives are so shallow nowadays. -
It's depressing when you don't have any real friends to hang out with and the reason for that is simply because you don't naturally engage in conversations. It's hard being an introvert

Financial crisis, cultural crisis probably some personal issues can lead to depression.
As to if it leads to suicide?
Well, it is an alarming situation that requires medical assistance. It all depens on the degree of the disease ( psyciatric disease). -
I think we live in a society that encourages us to get away from our true selves, from our spirits. I think we lose touch with ourselves and don't feel good enough, or compare ourselves to other people. Place unrealistic expectations on ourselves and others.
Tell me a person you see on a billboard, magazine, TV show or movie who is all natural? From Photoshop, lighting, editing, makeup, stylist, personal trainer, photographer etc. Subconsciously, a lot of us feel inferior when we see these images. The funny thing is the person in that images doesn't even look 100% like what you see.
Our electronic world and social media allows us to do the exact opposite of it's purpose, and that's not socialize. We don't just talk to people for the sake of it. We walk by most folks with our heads buried in smartphones.

as this is my field of employment I was kinda gonna avoid it so i dont feel like im at work , however modern technology is impacting on stress levels globally which in turn naturally increases depression , the amygidla of modern society man works at a much greater and longer pace which has been correlated with technology constantly bombarding people with information junk, the hippocampus however has slowed down in modern man so there is definitely a cause and effect.
however , social isolation , family neglect and fiscal slavery also play a great part in depression.
and with all due respect to the poster but poor emotional management is a ludicrous term , there is no shame in depression or suicide
coping mechanisms do fail , and its no ones fault , unfortunately the damage left behind is often quite substantial for family and friends which oft in itself creates a new cycle of depression. -
