I'm a new user who logged in a week or so ago and then not again until yesterday. It takes awhile to understand all the intricacies of this site! but by then I had my download rights taken ;-( There needs to be a longer grace period form signup! Take into account the fact that maybe we don't log in 24/7

It's a while since I was a new user so I'm not sure what advice is given these days. I don't know your circumstances so can't really comment.
But you only have 4GB to upload before you reach your minimum ratio so check out the Freeleech section or carry on seeding what you did download. And the staff are here to help if you need it. They don't like to cut anyone off from their pr0n supply

If no-one wants what you have to offer then you have to find other ways of upping your ratio.
And at least this newbie is joining in on the forums too, so credit to him for that

but at the end is indeed as simple as that: i take 1 GB i give back 1 GB, there are a lot of ways to make that happen.
there is no unfairness in the system.
I am myself a "newbie" user (around 6 months) so i know it is possible to gain and maintain a good ratio, and i had to start from 0.
and yes, props to j2dj for joining the forums and expressing his concerns. but no sugar coated words from me, just my honest advice in order for him to step up his game and start enjoying the site at its max.
