Is it possible to knw vid duration?

Is there any way to know video duration unless its written by the user in description?…
sometimes i see that large files have very small duration...
any advice from anyone?...

Until the users adds the duration to their description I don't see a resolution - except download of course

im not sure about it but doesnt it also depend on the video format ?
like a '.wmv' file will be of a shorter duration than a '.avi' file of the same size…..im not too sure about this...just a hunch and hoping someone who knows more can elaborate on it

You are of course correct. In the earlier times of video codecs there was (and still is) a simple rule: a VCD coded video (MPEG-1 format) takes (roughly) about 10 MB for 1 min duration playing time. But that started to change already with the MPEG-2 format and continues until today because there are no really fixed coding rules for different codecs, each and every codec claims to deliver better (more or less "losless") compression and smaller resulting video files.
Just keep in mind: there is no lossless video compression - what is left out (compressed) by a codec once is left out forever. You can only have an artificial interpoloation (also called a guess of what had might been there) of the compressed content.
That's also a reason why we ask uploaders to give some technical details about their uploaded files. (Alas there are not really many who give those details (

I always include the run time of my video uploads.
I do wish everyone would do it.
