How do you deal with depression?
-
Winter started (not officially but it's as cold as in the winter) thus waking up my old friends from the picture below and none of my old antidepression methods work anymore. And if it goes deeper, I'll become selfdestructive. Ask my liver, he knows that by first hand. He turned out to be a strong SOB but who knows - next time he may not have that luck.
-
Have you tried talking to a doctor about it? There are pills that can really help.
-
Ugh, don't remind me. Doctors are there to take your money and to mock at you instead of helping you. The last dicktor who mocked at me is still suffering the polymorphic virus I sent him.
-
I never have seen a doctor mocking me,
I'm sorry but the most part of medics wants help us -
To me the best cure for loneliness and depression are as such:
a. Take a mental inventory of what may actually be causing the depression (i.e chemically induced, feeling no hope, a loss of a loved one job etc, or maybe a life goal that has not been reached) and correct it.
b. Look at what you are basing your happiness on, money, another human being, your looks etc. try to center your happiness on fact not illusion, maybe that you are alive and have made the first step by placing this post. Well being can sustain itself more if it is built on something no one else can take from you.
c. Work on diet and fitness and maybe natural supplementation to make sure your nutrition is balanced and your body has all it needs to fight life stuff and depression at the same time.
d. Pets, Children, these are innocents who remind us that it is possible to be happy simply because we are able to give the gift of joy to others, if you do not have kids spending time with nieces and nephews can work beautifully it is a definite win-win.
e. TAKE ACTION nothing will work I mean nothing anti depression pills or homeopathy or religion if you do not isolate why you are sad and go about the business of fixing it (i.e maybe you want to start a business, be a singer, or whatever your heart song is you have seen the side of darkness so it can be powerful to take a leap of faith and risk it all in the direction of being the person you have always wanted to be.
F. Finally know that you are not ALONE people allover the world are fighting this battle right along side of you, find a way to connect with these brave souls and together you can light your way out of this abyss and into the life you so lovingly deserve.
I really hope this helps as it has helped me to write it…the longest journey begins with a single step and in the words of George Eliot...It is NEVER too late to be what you might have been.
Now
GO TO YOUR DESTINY YOUNG JEDI!

What DONGSTER said is really spot on. I suffer from depression with pretty bad mood swings. I could be slightly bipolar but I hate throwing that term around since everyone likes to label themselves that. The word depression gets thrown around a bit too much as well. There are short to medium term funks, and then there are clinically horrible dark places you can fall into that border on mixtures of panic, sadness, anxiety – it's not as if you're hallucinating, but reality can seem so distant and the world very black. At the beginning of the day you can be positive and mingling with people, but see one minor thing and then break down into tears -- FOR ABSOLUTELY NO REAL JUSTIFIABLE REASON.
To me that's a form of depression that never really goes away. It's a chemical issue. And finding the right meds can be a rollercoaster ride through hell. Alcohol absolutely makes things worse. Drugs make things worse. When the issue is chemical you have to develop ways to manage. You have to force yourself to do stuff. You can't let it defeat you -- although at some point it likely WILL. But I have found that instead of being out of it for weeks or months like in the past, I can now usually spring back in a couple of days.
Doctors, in my opinion, are of very little use. They're like lawyers. They're just guys who have memorized a lot of facts that can be obtained independently. They make finding info easier for those who lack time or initiative -- but they perform guesswork because psychology is not a science (hell, look at the Freudian BS people were preaching just a few decades ago). I find them useful in prescribing and suggesting the right drugs. That's it. Changes in attitudes and perceptions can only be done by you.
TLDR: Depression sucks. There are chemical and temporary types. Drugs can help. Introspection and perseverance is necessary for them to be effective though.

Go to a psychologist, tell him what's bothering you so he can give you the proper medication.
It is the safest way to deal with depression. -
