"Please exchange personal information by PM only with members you trust"

How???
That is a quote from the general rules. Not quite sure if the emphasis is on 'only' or 'trust' or 'share' or all of them
But there is no means any more to PM members who have chosen or been required to hide their details in their profile. And I can find no way to add any of those people to my users list.
Let's say I wanted to PM Popper (someone I'd trust my seed bonus with!). Unless I'd had a message from him to which I can reply, I can't message him.
As it happens I have had a message from him in the past. But there is no way I can find to add him to my users' list. He can add me to his list but that doesn't automatically add him to mine.
There is no longer a button on the forum posts to send a message. That disappeared some while ago.
I know the start of code to send a message https://www.gaytorrent.ru/sendmessage.php; I know Popper's ID number but can't find anyway to combine them to send a message.
Am I missing something? Or is the site? I have used Popper as an example because he is high profile anyway. But I've had this problem with someone who has recently had to hide his details after promotion before I could add him

I must've been missed it.
:true:
Well, yeah, I feel the same problem, is hard to contact someone in this our lovely site. When its a high security profile, its almost like dead end, unless like you said, if there was PM before that.

I'm going to play the devil's advocate and say that maybe people who have set their security permissions think they don't want to hear from random other members…? I know that is certainly my general take on the situation. Even when I have sent a helpful message to another user (usually a newbie because they need the help and don't have the means to set privacy on their profile) that has resulted in subsequent unrelated reply messages that have led me to regret making the initial contact. (I would vote for a default feature whereby the ability to reply to a message would expire after some time like 2 weeks to 30 days.)
I'm not being difficult, I just don't understand your use case. The staff are very reachable via either the Helpdesk (preferred) or the staff listing page. You can contact the poster of a torrent via the comments on the torrent. You can reply/quote to forum messages and anyone participating in the forum will be able to find the reply via "replies to my messages" at the top of the forum page. So what is your use case that leaves you wanting to contact people otherwise?

Erm, the main reason for the post is in the subject line. I was wondering how it could be done.
Why I want to do it is because of the P in PM. I want to send a PRIVATE message to an individual. For our own reasons.
In a particular case I am thinking about the person I want to add has no choice about his settings. I am on his users' list, I can't put him on mine unless he changes his settings.
I'm not looking for help, I don't want to comment on a torrent (and there is no reason why I would get a reply there), the message might not be relevant for a public forum and I don't want to contact staff (I seem to have missed the 'staff listing page' anyway).
People can send me a message via my profile page, I have no problem with that. Even 'unrelated replies' don't hold any terror for me.
But all of the above is irrelevant to my initial query - which is how do I follow one of the site rules?
PS Just a passing thought but if someone knew their ability to reply was time-limited, they might send unwanted messages just to keep the ability alive…

So that's why i couldn't send a private message!
Why did they removed the pm button? ??? -
Without having the advantage of the "Big Picture" viewpoint of ADMIN:
"why" = https://www.gaytorrent.ru/rules.php#73
*GayTorrent.ru takes the privacy of it's members seriously. Therefore do not post your real name, address, e-mail address or IP in the torrent's presentations, torrent comments or forum. Please exchange personal information by PM only with members you trust. (notice NEW update)
"how" is a little trickier. To actually begin this dialogue to accomplish this ultimate goal would entail initial contact which, as mentioned can be problematic:
…I can't put him on mine unless he changes his settings.
I'm not looking for help, I don't want to comment on a torrent (and there is no reason why I would get a reply there), the message might not be relevant for a public forum and I don't want to contact staff (I seem to have missed the 'staff listing page' anyway). As mentioned previous, once PM's are exchanged, the ability/option to PM is enabled and "add to friend" becomes on option ONLY if/when the intended 'friend' changes profile security settings to NORMAL for this specific purpose, then changes them back to STRONG to again hide profile etc…
This, I think, could be easily accomplished if the intended wants to befriend the asker.Roundabout way to 'befriend' someone online but as also previously mentioned, it can be accomplished:
The staff are very reachable via either the Helpdesk (preferred) or the staff listing page. You can contact the poster of a torrent via the comments on the torrent. You can reply/quote to forum messages and anyone participating in the forum will be able to find the reply via "replies to my messages" at the top of the forum page.
Although the easiest method is to BOTH go IRC (click CHAT on the blue bar) to enable real-time interactive PM to exchange all the info as mutually agreed between the two parties.
PS: I'll kick this up the food chain and see if the higher-ups have any insight

Thanks, ajax, and your suggested solution is exactly what we had done. Fortunately he did want to be befriended
The curious thing is that we used to have a PM button on the forum threads. I've forgotten why it disappeared. Surely not because of people being harassed as unwanted messengers can always be blocked.
Personally I have never had a flood of unwanted PMs.

I think a Friend Request function would solve this problem. The receiver would only get one message so they won't be flooded by the same person. Make it so that you can send a Friend Request to anyone you know of their nick on this site.
I really like the "Delete All System Generated Messages" button. Perhaps add another for "Delete All Friends Request Messages" so if you don't login very often, you can quickly clean up your Inbox.
