Well - did you here something about video quality? As you said yourself reducing size is another expression for reducing quality. Have you ever tried to view a 320px x 400px on a 47" Tv-screen? Good luck you can black out one pixel with your thumb!
On the other hand: what about collections for a special theme? Are I supposed to upload each and every part as a single file? Just have a look at my last uploads of ClubBangBoys - each year (except 2014) is > 100 GB with ~ 100 single episodes. Also too big for downloading??? The current seeders seem to think otherwise!
And to mention DVD: first thing is ripping a DVD in a single files means quality reduction. Second there are double sized DVD with a capacity of > 8 GB. We recommend since years to upload a DVD as a (complete!) copy of the VIDEO_TS folder. A couple of years ago there was even a staff discussion to forbid uploads of single VOB files without IFO and BUP.
In a good client you can select your download files. If you please you can download just the *.VOB files.
