Leeching instead of seeding?
-
I'm actually seeding a torrent, but on the site,it says that i'm in fact leeching it.It is a bug and will it affect my ratio?
I'm on BitTorrent 7.6 by the way. -
The effect on your account's share ratio depends on the upload and download amount of data your torrent client programme BitTorrent will report to the tracker.
Uploaded data reported will have a positive effect, downloaded data a negative. It is not the status which counts but the data traffic. So if you see now downloading of data in your client programme, it wound report downloaded data to the tracker, means no negative effect.
What you observe is typical for torrents with multiple files in their file list, when it is chosen to download only a part of them.
The torrent protocol knows only seeder and leecher. For a tracker only peers which have all files can be count as seeder. Therefore if only a part of the files is downloaded and seed, still the tracker counts the peer as leecher. However, the tracker receiving only amounts of uploaded data from the torrent client programme, will add it correctly to the upload and therefore the ratio is effected positively. The torrent client programme knows that the download of the desired file(s) are finished and shows seeding at the same time.

Ok,thanks.
It seem that i'm not uploading much tough.I'll try to use the bonus point to improve my ration. -
medoli, A good way to improve your ratio is to just leave your torrent client running when you have finished your download. Not everyone can do this but it's a simple way.
Another simple (?) way is to upload a new torrentÂ

Yeah,i know, but i don't have any new torrent to upload and i let bittorent all the day seeding but i'm lucky if i have 10 mb/day.

Did you test if your torrent client programme is connectible? It being connectible makes seeding working much better than if not.
As well, you should seed, what got leecher. Seeding a single torrent without leecher will make you earning Seed Bonus Points only.
