      DO NOT UPGRADE ...
For those of you who are using uTorrent as their client ...
error updating Tracker Issues : wss://tracker.btorrent.xyz

      If your version automatically updated,
[solution] downgrade your version to a previous version immediately ...

      HERE'S HOW :

      • In uTorrent [TOOLBAR]/Top left] point on Options/Preferences/General
Uncheck - Updates & Privacy / Check - Notify me before installing updates ...
[This will prevent your client from updating automatically] ...

You don't have to uninstall [updated version to avoid conflict] ...
simply download from the recent version [that works, w/ no issues] and install ...
all your active torrents are present after downgrading is completed ...

I'm not willing to try it myself but I'm curious to know if this issue really comes from the official builds that you download from their official website, because the number of people who use utorrent is huge and I don't see any news regarding to this matter, this is a very serious concern to just go unnoticed. Maybe it just affects private trackers, but even then, I don't know why there would be no articles about the issue in any relevant portal/news outlet.

@ianfontinell Yes... We have had all kinds of problems with uTorrent 3.6.0... For some reason it doesn't work well with our tracker, and when it does, it doesn't report your upload data whatsoever. For this reason, we recommend using version 3.5.5 or earlier.

@MrMazda said in uTorrent 3.6.x Version:

it doesn't report your upload data whatsoever

Very interesting--I had 3.6 for a couple of weeks, and I wondered why my uploads didn't seem to show up...this explains it. It also added an additional "ghost" tracker to each torrent, with a URL that didn't exist, forcing the client to keep looking for something that wasn't there. It did this for torrents on several other sites. After returning to 3.5.5, I went through each torrent and deleted that ghost tracker.

I notice an annoying feature of uTorrent 3.x that I didn't see in 2.x: If I'm deleting a torrent and data that has many files, it takes quite a while to delete the downloaded files. I seem to remember this happening very quickly under 2.x. My suspicion is that 3.x has a different and clumsy interface with the Windows file management system, and I don't think there's a simple way to fix that.

I've been using uTorrent 2.2.1 for years now with no issues. Many people recommend not updating above that version, as later versions are unstable and unreliable. Some/many torrent sites have banned any version above v2.2.1 for that very reason.
