What is this? Torrent Padding.
-
I have received this message in a comment but I don't seem to understand. I have googled it already but is not clear to me.
I have not been uploading anything lately but this is from one of my last uploads. I have not changed anything differently from my other torrents and I do not see an option about this in qBittorrent.
I am not sure if I used the qBittorrent Torrent Creator or the GayTor Upload Utility for creating the torrent file for this upload.
I have not encountered this before nor users encountering the same.
And what is NAS in his sentence? Network Attached Storage or something else related to torrent?
Can someone clarify this for me so I could provide a proper reply to this user?
Thanks!

Padding files are created by BitComet. Their use. ensures that no two data files in a multi-file torrent occupy the same BitTorrent "piece".
They are supposed to be hidden or invisible to BitComet users but can actually harm the performance in other clients because these files are transferred,
which takes up bandwidth.
SEE: https://community.gaytorrent.ru/topic/58307/padding-files?_=1668456916745How to disable BitComet from creating Padding files in torrents
This option can easily be disabled by unticking the "align file boundry" option when making a torrent. -
NAS [ex: seedbox/a server used for storing large amount of data] ...
What is NAS storage used for?
Network-attached storage (NAS) is dedicated file storage that enables multiple users and heterogeneous client devices to retrieve data from centralized disk capacity. Users on a local area network (LAN) access the shared storage via a standard Ethernet connection.SEE: https://www.techtarget.com/searchstorage/definition/network-attached-storage

My tip is just ditch BitComet altogether, migrate to qbittorrent or transmission, they're safer and have constant security and feature updates.
-
Okay. I understand all of those but I have never used BitComet.
I only use qBittorrent.

@Rotron Honestly you should not care about it. You're already doing too much by uploading, the content is there and available to all, might not work with all clients but hey, what is this? You care enough to file a complaint but not to try a different client?
I've tried both QTM and GUU on qbittorrent and utorrent, they're fine, it should be fine for 99% of the people.here.

@ianfontinell You hit me right on spot. And that's exactly what I should reply. Thanks!
