A question about the fairness of sharing
-
Hello,
I don't often upload (mostly for fear of doing something wrong and am a relative newbie, but I am trying to build my ratio so I recently uploaded a large directory to share. I am positive that I am the only person who has these files on this site.
I uploaded the torrent and a few hours later my program (Transmission) showed me I had barely shared the size of the files once over with one person. Yet, when I checked on the website, it showed that my files already had 63 seeders and 30 leechers. Can someone explain to me how this is possible? Or did I do something wrong?
And further, if it is really true that 60 people are already seeding this, isn't it a little unfair to the person doing the original post (and going through the trouble of setting it up, sorting out pictures, text, etc) that they only get the ratio improvement of having shared it once while others may have shared it more often? Don't get me wrong, I am all for sharing, and I have certainly profited from it in the past. I am just thinking that somehow it is a little unfair to the original poster. I'd be interested to hear what you think. Thanks -
It is possible that others already owns that existing file that you shared, others rename and replicate [of what you posted] in order to exactly match the files ... This is known as Super-seeding ...
