Are you referring to the upload button on the blue bar at the top of the every page?
On the next page , look at the 2nd to the last line and it says UPLOAD GUIDE and click on that.

Hi
I'm a true newbie to torrents. And I've got a question for you. I've created a .torrent file, uploaded it successfully, downloaded it (thanks for your directions), and after waiting 24 hours, it still says 0.0% downloaded in uTorrent.
Is there something else I need to do to get things started? I'm not uploading or downloading anything else, so that shouldn't be an issue.
Thanks so much!

Swally, thats because you are not meant to download the torrent.. Since your the one who uploaded it to the site your the only one who has it..so where you gonna download it from ? So thats why your supposed to seed it…
So now in utorrent - stop the torrent --> right click --> advanced --> set download location --> a box will appear in that browse to the video on your computer --> select it and click ok --> now your torrent will start to 'check' --> right click and choose 'start'
And remember in the begining nothing will happen, ie no seeding, but that is normal because the torrent has to be approved, but for it to be approved you need to leave it seeding inspite of nothing happening..

Hi aaliass,
Thanks–it checked immediately after starting, and is queued for approval & seeding now.
My mistake was in the instructions given in this thread where it said, "You need to download the torrent file from the site otherwise it will not be shared with other people, so click download torrent." My mistake--I thought it was speaking of the .torrent, not the actual video file.
Thanks again--I hope I get the hang of this process, as I have a terabyte or two of files I could share--the hardest part so far seems to be searching to be sure I don't duplicate other's offerings.

your most welcome ;D
also if you don't want to go through that whole process that i had mentioned, what you can do is when you double click the .torrent and your client opens, in the first box that you see, where it asks you where to save the file, just browse to the video on your computer select it and then add the torrent…again it should check and be ready to seed.....

Ive uploaded a torrent in an attempt to improve my ratio but after I uploaded and created the torrent with http://tracker.gaytorrent.ru as a tracker the icon next to the torrent is red and it is not seeding… what have I done wrong?
-
the torrent that you have started in your client, is the one that you created or did you re-download it from the torrent details page on this site ?
well anyway it should be the one from this site, so if it isn't delete the one you have in your client, go to the torrent details page (ie this page -> http://tracker.gaytorrent.ru/details.php?id=41284 ) and download the .torrent file from there and start that up in your client….

I've found where this has been mentioned, but I'm not clear yet.
I'm currently downloading one file–seeds 1(1) peers 1(2) ... and seeding six files showing values something like seeds 0(37) peers 3(6).
Which number is the one to watch to know how long to seed a new torrent? (I'm still struggling with the whole 'swarm' thing, but I think I see that they are everyone the system can see ....)
Is it unusual to have all the seeds have the zero?
Thanks for helping to enlighten those of us whose brains are a bit 'dim',

For my personal understanding
seeds 0 means no seeders connected to your client yet. If the number is 1, 2 that means 1 or 2 seeders is seeding to your client.
(37) means the total complete seeds are 37. In this case, if you are uploading, that means you are one of 37.
Peer 3 means you are seeding at the same time for other 3 users
(6) means total leechers are 6, you are included of cause if you are downloading instead of uploading.
Hope I am right, haha

almost correct .. in simple words, a swarm is the group of peers (users) connected to the same torrent at the same time.
numbers/counts which you can see in your client may differ from those shown by the tracker, this is OK, because your client asks for tracker updates only once in 30 minutes, while the client itself is showing actual counts 'on the fly'.
in case of seeding you will always see {0} count of seeders connected, because you are one of them, hence there's no reason to be connected to them.
-
Which number is the one to watch to know how long to seed a new torrent?
look at the seeds column - when you upload the torrent the seeds column will show as 0(1) so once the "1" increases that means there are more seeders, which is what you want to look at when uploading a new torrent…..
and note: the number within the brackets is the actual number and the number outside is the number of users you are connected to
(which as amice has mentioned may or may not be the same as what is reported on the site)so - @swally:
I'm currently downloading one file–seeds 1(1) peers 1(2)
in this case since you are downloading you need to be connected to the seeds - here, you are connected to the one seeder and also connected to one leecher (out of those 2 one is you [as gzlong explained] so you can only be connected to 1)
-> the reason you are connected to the leechers as well is cause if they have 50% of the data and you have 25% then you can also leech the remaining 25% from them, or if you has 50% and they had 25% then you can seed to them
… and seeding six files showing values something like seeds 0(37) peers 3(6)
here its vice versa, since you are seeding you need to connect to the leechers - you are not connected to any of the 36 other seeders (you don't need to be since you have the file), and you are connected to 3 leechers out of 6
and you're not 'dim' you're just confused

Some advice on doing this in BitTorrent 6.4:
You'll be prompted to download your torrent after uploading it. Do so. Now, add your torrent to your queue in BitTorrent (as if you were going to download a new movie). It'll look like it's downloading, but will get stuck at 0%. Now:
- Click the "Stop" button.
- Right-click your torrent. Choose "Advanced" and then "Set Download Location." (This will remain greyed-out if you have not stopped the torrent!)
- Browse to the location on your hard drive where the original video file was located. Choose that file. Click OK.
- Right-click your torrent again. Choose "Force Re-Check." Allow the torrent to check that all the pieces and files are there. Watch the blue bar in your "General" tab (bottom of your screen) for this process to finish.
- Once the recheck is done, right-click your torrent and choose "Start." You will be ready to seed.
- Wait for moderator approval! If this is granted, your torrent will begin to seed.
Hope this helps…

thanks.. i think i've got it all figured out.. hopefully it works fine.. i've selected the file that i made the torrent of and click OK at the save us window on utorrent.. just waiting for the approval, i guess.. thanks again..

I also have a little problem wit uTorrent and uploading. In theory it works, but I have to stop torrent and start it again, maybe even once every half an hour or it doesn't seed. After I stop it and start over, it suddenly starts to seed at high speed while before it was zero. The interesting thing is that I cannot update tracker, which is the problem in my opinion. Tracker doesn't update and I have 2 leechers in uTorrent while there are 10 or so. So I have to restart often to actually seed. Don't have the same problem with other trackers. Works the same after I just uploaded a torrent, even if it is active it won't seed before I restart it, as only then it updates the information.
Any way to solve this or i should continue as it is? At day I can restart often but it becomes impossible to seed while I am not at the computer.
Any help appreciated -
Are you sure you have your ports forwarded properly?
Another thing to look at is if you are overwhelming your computer's RAM. If I have too many over active torrents going at once on my seedbox, it overloads my RAM and I have to reduce the number of active torrents.
-
Well, could be the ports, but I cannot do anything about them. But I don't have this problem with other trackers
-
if you don't have this problem with other trackers, you can't have it with this one either. the only difference is that this tracker doesn't reply with 'offline scrape' signal. if you have queuing enabled, then it can be your problem. with this tracker you need to turn this option off (it works even when enabled, though), or you can use 'forced' option to start your torrents without waiting, but then these torrents don't fit set queuing limits.

Hi. I was trying to upload a new torrent. everything went smoothly but the moment i clicked Upload. it said, "Please select a category". Problem is, there is no drop-down box there. I tried to type something, which it allowed to, but still it prompted, "Please Select a Category".
I am using a Windows 7 os. thank you

I have the same problem. I tried to upload goodies when the torrent maker asks me to "Select a category", but there's no option on the dropdown list. And it seems that this issue is still not fixed
