Gay and Muslim
-
How can the two go together?
-
They can't unless you ignore what their holy texts say about being gay.
Due to the left's racism of low expectations, muslims are wonderful people despite the way they treat/view gays.
"Islam is a religion of peace" is only true if you ignore all the violence it promotes, such as "kill all the infidels where ever you find them".
-
I would think the same way that gay people of any other faith handle it. How one goes about interpreting their religious texts is a big thing, and it is possible to interpret or receive seemingly anti-gay texts in such a way that it is understood as not speaking directly to being gay or referring to a specific context that does not condemn being gay in the same way that anti-gay interpretations do. While Christian scholars have been doing this for a little longer, Muslim scholars have also begun to offer contemporary interpretations or understandings that are accepting of gay people.

I'm an atheist, so I have no horse in this race, as it were.
There is a huge difference between the bible (OT and NT) and the quran. The bible was written in many different languages and then translated many times. The quran, in it's official form, is supposed to be unchanged since it was originally written.
When the bible talks about homosexuality, it often means "temple prostitution" as was common in the old pagan days. Swapping the meaning is partly due to bad editing and partly purpose-driven editing as we see in the KJV. Another example is that the KJV added many anti-women things that aren't in the older texts.
It's easier to do mental gymnastics with a book that has countless edits and translations than it is of a book that is supposed to be totally unchanged since it was originally written. Of course, there's plenty of evidence that the quran has been edited quite a bit over it's first 300 years, most notably with the removing of the "satanic verses".
The bible claims to be inspired by the word of god, while the quran claims to be the perfect word of god.

can these 2 still go together?
-
Quran does not say anything specifically about gay. there was no mention of any sort of punishments for gay people. So I think there is still a way to interpret it. Being gay or straight should be a person's right. Islam always upheld justice and free of tyranny. Remember, Islam gave the dignity to women when the women were compared to lower than an animal as well as the slaves were given dignity too.. this topic needs more research.

Sounds like we have an islamist.

Like the bible, the quran tells the story of Sodom and Gomorrah and the evilness of the men's homosexuality. The quran calls it an abomination.
The Zina verse talks about illicit sex, including gay sex. Both "the doer and the done" are to be punished.
In the hadiths and anthars, there's plenty of anti-gay stuff. There's one example though, where you can be a fag, but you can not do fag things, including looking at other men in a faggy way.
People love to cherry pick the bits they like out of their religion and deny the rest exists.

I just wanted scholars to reinterpret it. dont be an extremist atheist asshole. I am not Islamist. a lot of gays r Muslim because they believe in God and that gives them internal peace. I want a solution by merging the sexuality and Islam. where is the real problem to merge it? does it harm the god's earth? remember God does not need a religion. He gave the religion to build a civilized and ruled society. because you know without law there is a anarchy. find a solution. Quran has not been finished interpretation. It can be interpreted as long as the human lives.
-
You may WANT islam to be accepting of homosexuality, but being dishonest about it won't make it true.
I'm an "extreme atheist asshole" in your eyes because I know the truth and accept it, as is.
You are a crappy muslim when you think that "the perfect word of god" can be interpreted by man in any way they want to suit their needs/whims. Then again, you are a good muslim in that you are willing to lie about your religion to make it seem better to non-believers, as commanded in the quran.
God doesn't exist.

God doesn't exist.
Don't want to argue about the existence of God with you. that's a different topic. The point here is prophet said as long as there is a new issue come to exist, you must solve it with intelligence and knowledge of the holy book. Quran is a words of God but its not meant for take it literally except are those mentioned clearly that Do's and Dont's.
You atheist people want to criticize the Quran by taking literal meaning.. That's just shows athiesm makes you evil. I am an open thinker. don't try to name calling me with any religion. Show u r above that.
-
Get nasty all you want, but it's you that is making crap up about your religion.
The quran and hadith clearly deal with homosexuality, so it's not a new issue. If you are a true believer, then you must obey your holy texts.
YES, YES, I know your holy texts tells you to lie to the non-believers to make your religion more acceptable to them.
LOL, you are so pathetic. You lie about what your holy texts say about homosexuality and I tell the truth, so you call me evil.

Read the last sentence in the picure attached.
It sounds awfully like what's happening in Islamic countries (Saudi Arabia, Qatar etc) and ISIS.
Picture from https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LGBT_in_IslamWhat you're doing here calvingrey is called Taqiya: making Islam more palatable to non-believers by deceiving them. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Taqiya
You can be gay and muslim but the metal gymnastics required to do that is Olympic level and also the community won't be kind* about your sexual orientation.
- threats, harassment, etc…
-
The quran, therefore Allah/god, calls "the people of Lot" (homosexuals) an abomination.
The matter is settled.
Sex outside of marriage is not allowed in islam.
Gays can not get married in islam.
Sure, in the hadith, you can be gay, but you are not allowed to act upon it in any way, EVER. Even looking at another man in a homosexual context, is enough to get you thrown off a tall building. It's the same as the christian BS of "love the sinner, hate the sin".

Islam hasn't been in reformed in centuries, it's not going to happen now, it'd go against the very fundamentals of the religion.
The only solution for Islam is called atheism, and let's hope it spreads throughout Islamic nations sooner than later because the more people read the texts and take them seriously, the more extreme they become.
-
Of course its possible and valid.
-
Of course its possible and valid.
It's only possible if you ignore what your god and holy texts say.
It's not valid because you have to ignore so much of what your god and holy texts say.

Why start such a stupid conversation? You know it will only create feud, from both sides. Because people from both sides tend to exaggerate, name-calling and so on. Who cares? If it affects you, then just decide for for yourself whether or not you can live that way. You don't need to hear other people's thoughts. Stop creating unnecessary heat.
You see how atheists are not capable of being open minded here. For a religious person who is also gay, it's hard enough, but then they have to deal with ignorant atheists who think the world is black and white and it's easy to choose one or the other. -
You know it will only create feud, from both sides.
ignorant atheists
I guess you never heard of "irony".
Also, how am I ignorant? I have read countless religious texts from many religions over the years.
Islam claims to be the perfect word of god, so a muslim CAN NOT ignore what the quran says or they are ignoring their god.
