Homophobic friends

Hey guys.
How do you all deal with being around homophobic friends? that's common if you haven't come out yet.
In my case i had homophobic friends, it's actually more common than it should in my country, but once i came out they accepted me, but probably because of my personality, at that time i didn't care at all about what people thought of me, but i'm pretty sure if i were more vulnerable it wouldn't have happened like that. Currently almost all of my friends know about my sexuality and are quite okay with that, some started to be closer after they knew about it

But i still have homophobic friends, one of them made me go through a huge psychological trauma that made me feel disgust and hatred for being gay and because of that i tried to force myself to be straight. to him i always acted like a parasite (yea) and he didn't ever show any remorse when speaking about GLBT people.

How do you guys deal with that kind of situation?
Btw i am still friends with that guy, but getting distant over time

If someone makes you feel disgust and hatred about yourself that person is definitely not your friend. I would cut them out of your life, you don't need that kind of negativity.
