Policy on duplicate uploads and seed points thus earned.
-
Hi all. I have a policy question for members of staff. If someone uploads a duplicate torrent, and it is reported and deleted, does the uploader keep the seedpoints he earned for the duplicate? What about any "thank you" points?

Yes on both questionsÂ

OK, thanks. Just to be clear, this would include serial duplicators, even if they are eventually denied privaledges (sp?), not just the ocassional mistake-makers, yes?

I'm not sure what your interest is, in these internal workings of the site (and let's make this be the final question, ok?) but… YES.

OK, that was the last question, I promise!
My only interest stems from the fact that I see a lot of dups, and in some ways I'm a little jealous because I've tried to upload stuff myself, but haven't been able to in the past three years due to open ports or something like that. I think it may have something to do with the fact I live in Sri Lanka, and have a Sri Lankan provider? Anyway, I want to participate but have found that aspect frustrating, especially when I have some stuff not yet uploaded, but I see others benefitting from working the system, so to speak. So I guess you could call it jealousy of a sort. I've managed to build up my ratio through a combo of adding pics, finding dups, and making annual donations to the site.
Anyway, thanks mucho for answering my questions. I know you guys are super busy, and I appreciate all the work you guys do to keep this site up and running.

If you see duplicates please report them. You earn 50 points per duplicate if its deemed a real dupe when the report is processed.
DUPLICATE files are not allowed and will be removed. You are expected to run a search for duplicates prior to submitting a torrent. Duplicates may be accepted when part of a themed collection. A file is considered a duplicate if an existing torrent has the same format and similar size (<10% difference) and has at least one seeder.
