Suggestions on Ratio?

I have (in my opinion) a terrible ratio of 0.8 with 900 GB Uploaded and 1100 GB Downloaded.
I'm not new to torrenting and I've been a member of the site for a long time, but I just don't get it. Here are things that I do to intentionally improve my ratio:
1. I target and sort by torrents with low seeders / high leechers that are new.
2. I target freeleech that have a lot of time left and a lot of leechers
3. I minimize the amount of torrents that I actually want
4. I uploaded my first torrent of a pretty nice collection
And yet, my ratio hovers around 0.8.Even right now, I'm targeting a file that has a S/L ratio of 1/46 and yet … I'm not actually uploading anything to anyone, just downloading and killing my ratio. I've always been proud seed back to the community, and on another popular Gay Torrents website I consistently maintain higher than a x2 ratio (with much more volume, something like 3 TB Uploaded) and my uTorrent is set to prioritize seeding.
I'm frustrated. Based on my metrics on the other Gay Torrents website, I can and know how to maintain great ratio. But then I come over to GayTorrent.RU and my ratio is in the toilet. I've clearly seeded a ton and want to seed a ton, and I've read ALL the guides I could find on GayTorrent.RU but I just don't know wha telse to do.

From the sounds of it, you're connecting as a passive node, which can present some difficulty with our tracker. The easiest way to fix this is to ensure that your port forwarding settings are correct. The port number that your torrent client uses needs to be forwarded in both TCP and UDP from your router to your computer. Otherwise, things will not work as they should.
-
YUP, my thoughts exactly; sounds like your port forwarding is not set up properly.
Here's a forum topic I wrote up on this issue… https://forum.gaytorrent.ru/index.php?topic=46634.0
BTW, from your profile your ratio is under minimum ratio:
Share ratio 0.760
Current minimum Ratio 0.800 (45 Days gracetime in case of your ratio falls below 0.8)
Amount to Seed 47.20 GB (The amount you have to seed to reach the current minimum Ratio)I sent you 600 bonus points for your first upload, but that's only going to take care of 25% of your shortage, when you trade in for 10GB upload credit.
At the moment you are in the "Grace Period" countdown to losing your download rights again.
You have 40 days before the Grace Period expires, and you totally lose your download rights.
During the "Grace Period", (which is normally triggered right after your ratio drops below the minimum), you are able to download freeleech AND non-freeleech torrents, but you should be focusing on improving your ratio, only.
If your ratio continues to decline, then AFTER the Grace Period expires (and download privileges are removed,) downloading is ONLY permitted for freeleech torrents.
FreeLeech Torrents are explained in greater detail {click here}, and can help you restore your ratio, when members download what YOU are later seeding.
A search for FreeLeech Torrents is achieved with THIS search: {click here}
There are currently MANY FreeLeech torrents available.

To assist you in maintaining a good ratio into the future, here's some advice that may help:
======Advice for Our Members; How To Maintain a Healthy Ratio======
You should check to see that you have port forwarding set up properly. Your computer is much more difficult to "see" (IE your downloads can be painfully slow, and members have a harder time uploading to, or downloading from your computer), if your torrent client port is NOT being forwarded.
Here is a MINI-TUTORIAL I wrote up on this topic, in the forum: https://forum.gaytorrent.ru/index.php?topic=46634A small donation can resolve your ratio problems quickly, while helping us cover the numerous expenses of continuing to host the GAYtorrent.ru site.
Upload your OWN torrent. It's easy to do, (just make sure it is not a duplicate) and then all that upload data credit is YOURS…at least until other seeders join in
DO NOT STOP your torrent nor torrent client, after uploading completes. KEEP IT RUNNING, so you can continue seeding to the next members who want this video, and help improve your ratio.
If you ever wish to earn upload credit for reseeding videos (where you already have the video on your hard drive), the illustrated procedure is here: https://forum.gaytorrent.ru/index.php?topic=6539.0
The best way to continue to earn upload credit is to seed EVERYTHING you download, forever. This means DO NOT STOP your torrent nor torrent client, after downloading completes. KEEP IT RUNNING, so it can seed to the next member who wants this video, and help improve your ratio. While continuing to seed, you'll be earning a bonus point every two hours you offer to seed, regardless of whether other members are downloading from you or not.
Keep a very close eye on your Ratio, since it will take considerably more time to UPLOAD than it did to download. I would suggest you activate certain columns in your torrent client, so as to keep a close eye on each torrent statistics, in the future. On most torrent programs, you can right-click in the column headings and choose additional columns to be able to view.
I personally recommend "Name", "Size", "Done", "Added on", "Status", "Completed", "Down Speed", "Up Speed", "Seeds", "Ratio", "Peers", "ETA", and Tracker" as essential information and sort-columns. On most torrent programs, you activate these headings by right-clicking on the headings, and selecting and de-selecting your headings, as needed. You can also re-size the headings, by clicking and holding down on the right side of the heading, and dragging it a little bit to the left. You can reposition the columns by clicking (on the column heading) and holding down the mouse button, dragging the column left or right, as desired.
Initially choose only new torrents to download that seem popular, to insure that you will have others downloading (from you, to raise your ratio) after you finish. Our site runs a bit different than other torrent sharing porn sites, because of the vast number of new torrents that get uploaded every day. This tends to make the "popularity" of new torrents be rather short-lived; thus you need to really choose VERY RECENT torrents to download, to share, when trying to repair your ratio.
Freeleech Torrents can be downloaded without affecting your ratio. Even with download rights taken away, you can download any freeleech torrent, as long as it stays freeleech: Torrents which are freeleech will give you whatever you upload added to your ratio… but the size of the movie wont be added to your download, which means that it will only be a positive effect on your ratio (or neutral, if you dont upload anything at all). Do note: if the freeleech timer runs out however, whatever's left on the torrent will be added to your ratio.
Here's the current list of freeleech torrents; They have NO negative effect on your ratio, as long as they remain free leech, however they do tend to have MANY seeders:
https://www.gaytorrent.ru/browse.php?showsearch=1&infl=1After you download, in order to earn upload credit (sharing) you must keep the torrents running, keep your torrent client program running, and your computer turned on and connected to the internet, preferably ALL the time, if at all possible.
You can also perform many tasks here on the board in order to earn Bonus Points, which can be traded in for Upload credit to improve your ratio. If you click on your Ratio: ( https://www.gaytorrent.ru/rationator.php ) you will see many various ways to earn Bonus Points, besides getting a detailed explanation on how your Ratio is maintained.

Thank you MrMazda and Pawps
You were correct, my ports were not being forwarded (even though in uTorrent, my connection settings: Enabled uPnP port mapping, Enabled NAT-PMP port mapping, and Added Windows Firewall exception. I thought those would be enough). I spent some time last weekend and this weeekend doing research on my router, and manually added both a TCP and UDP connection for uTorrent. I ws able to verify the port being forwarded on CanYouSeeMe.org so … fingers crossed.
We'll see. I honestly try to be a responsible seeder, but I feel like I've been fighting a losing battle and I don't know why. Thank you for your assistance, let's see if I can lift my ratio

YES that might have been enough, if your router had the "Enable uPnP" setting enabled… (as well as having the "Randomize port each start" option UNCHECKED in uTorrent, which I think you did, but just didn't mention above)
Still, all's well that ends well, and certainly, having the port set to OPEN, MANUALLY in your router, is always the best way; rock solid! :cheesy2:
Take care and good luck!

From what I can see now, everything is looking good on this end. There aren't many leechers on the torrents that you're seeding, however it would appear that you are seeing upload traffic, even from those torrents. This suggests that the port forwarding that you did was indeed the problem. When port forwarding is not properly set, most often you can only upload to peers that you're actively leeching from, because otherwise, it is incredibly difficult to be able to get an incoming connection.
-
It is all in the design and operational rules. As a user, you have entered the ratio gloom.
The idea of competing for the "free leach" program is entering into a competition with all other users. Nothing good will come of it, just wasted effort and traffic paid by users who contribute the free leach.
The systems gets you on the hook by escalating the required ratio, as you become a "user". That way, when the meaning of every % of ratio becomes a huge obstacle, user is stopped and forced to climb another impossible step.
Pawpcorn advise is not practical. It does not help if you avail all your downloads for fellow users. They do not have the ratio that allows them to download, so the files remain static for days.Of course, you can upload. But that is not a real option if you count the number of daily uploads.
Of course, you can pay for your rights. The only solution to this situation is removing two words from the rules.

Just a side-note… You received a low ratio warning and continued to download torrent after torrent after torrent like it was going out of style, then you complain that you downloaded so much that you dug yourself a 22 GB hole?
We expect all users to follow the same standards, and it is certainly not our fault if you do not listen to the advice you are given, and heed the warning that you need to get your ratio back up before you keep downloading more.
It would almost seem like you expect to just freeleech everything for free, without any expectation of sharing any content back in return.

I didn't know if this was directed at me. If it was directed at me, yes, I received a low ratio warning. I always try to be a responsible downloader and will always seed more than I can. In fact, in my uTorrent program I have it set to prioritize seeding and to seed up to x5 times before I start throttling any more downloading. I actually thought I was doing the right thing by aggressively targeting new files to seed, since the old files weren't getting me anywhere (and that means intentionally taking an immediate hit of downloading a popular file so I can immediately start seeding it). If I just wait for my existing files to seed, then … that might take who knows how long? I know I download files that aren't that popular, so waiting for those files to be leeched by other users might never happen when I would rather help seed immediately-desired torrents. Hope that makes sense. I really wouldn't want anyone to think I'm trying to freeleech without responsibly sharing any content back! As I mentioned in my original post, I make it a point to seed. And with another popular gay torrent website, I have an x2 ratio on a far larger amount of uploading / downloading and I've never had an issue with my ratio which is why I was so puzzled with my experience on GT.ru.
With that said, I'm proud to announce that in the past week, since opening my ports, I've lifted my ratio from 0.780 to 0.816 and I'll continue to lift it as high as possible.

Nope…. Definitely NOT directed at [you].

I'm pleased to say that my ratio has been steadily going upwards. I went from 0.78 to 0.87 ratio (not easy when you have a base of 1 TB!)
-
I'm pleased to say that my ratio just hit 0.90! I'll eventually get it to 1.0
-

Then my efforts were not wasted.
-
LOL Not at all. It's a slow but steady process, I just hit 0.907
-
I'm slowly climbing up. Current ratio is 0.937!
-
EXCELLENT!! ;D

- I never complained?
- I never participated in this thread?
- How much I upload/download is ultimately irrelevant provided I stick within the rules.
This is why I dislike participating in communities… As despite trying to add something constructive to a discussion... Someone has to have a whinge about it elsewhere.

If you never participated in the forum thread, then why are you commenting on it now about how you don't participate because "someone has to have a whinge about it somewhere"?
That comment was obviously NOT directed at you, but rather the user that I was replying to. Why suddenly make this about you? Are you trying to get attention? If so, there are much better ways…

From what I saw:
This topic was very helpful to the person who created it. He had a problem and found out how to fix it in a way that was satisfying.
This topic is helpful for people in similar situations who want to make honest attempts to improve their ratio.
People who aren't interested in sharing are complaining even though this has nothing to do with them.
