At the moment it is "The Lightning-Struck Heart" by TJ Klune, followed closely by "Jalendu" by Mark Andrew.

Wait, do you mean favorite gay story or just favorite book?

My favorite gay-themed book is Giovanni's Room by James Baldwin. This was written in the 50's by a gay black man and it still packs a punch today.

Last year during my out of town work, I bought a book (paper back) on sale. The title of the 1974 novel is The Front Runner by  Patricia Nell Warren. I was touched by the sensitivity of the love story of a running coach and his star athlete. I must have read it a dozen times.

It is also in the book where I learned the difference between a front runner and a kicker

Heritage of Hastur by Marion Zimmer Bradley in 1975.

I was 14 and this was the first book I read where a sex-sex relationship was a normative part of the story.

would you rather be known as a kicker or a frontrunner?

I loved "Last Summer" and "Full Circle" by Michael Thomas Ford. I have them on Audiobook as well and the narrator is the same for both books and he's amazing.

My favorite book of all time is "Dante and Aristotle Discover the Secrets of the Universe" by Benjamin Alire Sáenz. I know people say to not judge a book by its cover, but this novel's cover is seriously the most beautiful I've ever seen. It's the reason why I read it, but the text itself is even more beautiful.
