Automatically Donate to an LGBT Charity When You Order from Amazon
-
For those who don't know, Amazon operates an "automatic charitable donation" program called Smile. Basically you shop via smile.amazon.com, rather than the regular amazon.com, and every purchase automatically throws a little money towards a charity of your choice. I've had a local cat care society as mine for the past couple of years, but it occurred to me today to change it to a charity that is on the political "front lines" right now. I chose to change it to my local regional Planned Parenthood group, because that's where I receive HRT and it's important to me, but I poked around the charities and they have everyone from GLAAD to the ACLU and everyone in between.
I thought it might be a good idea to post this here in case anyone wasn't aware. The donations amount to fractions of pennies per purchase, but it's still a nice way to pitch in a little extra without even having to think about it. Right now I'm sure every little bit helps! Just remember that you need to shop through the smile.amazon.com link for the automatic charity thing; shopping through the regular Amazon link doesn't count. You can also change your charity of choice whenever you want. Outside of a quick setup where you choose your charity, it's no different than shopping on Amazon normally (it'll just show your charity at the top near the Amazon search bar thingy.)
Obviously, this doesn't take the place of larger charitable donations, but I thought it was worth posting for those that want to do everything they can. Just go to the smile.amazon.com link, log into your Amazon account and it'll give you a list of a few "featured" charities; under that is a search bar where you can look for something more specific if you want (like I mentioned, GLAAD is there, the ACLU, even obscure regional and local charities!)

Thank you for showing me this! I didn't know this. Here in Germany Amazon pays virtually NO taxex :police: yet we're alle buying there. And it destroys our cities because nobody is shopping in the small shops anymore. But this is a way where we can make up for some of that.
I support a German hospice, meaning a place where gay man, usually dying of AIDS, can live their last days in peace with optimal medical care. Though in Germany the health insurance all German citizens have pays for those places, money is always short for very important things.
So, again, thank you!

I think this is only for the US aka Amazon.com.
As to Amazon destroying cities and towns, people shop there because it's quick and easy, without the hassle of trying to find a parking space. Also, prices tend to be cheaper and you have more selection.
You can blame Junker for big corporations not paying any taxes in the EU. As PM of Luxembourg, he made it into a massive tax haven.

Indeed and that fucker was head of European control over tax evasion . what a scam.
Still as a citizen I try to not buy from amazon, starbucks, ebay/paypal , uber, google. They own us BILLIONS to pay our social services , hospitals including LGBT local services ( in Paris you have this association for teens who are in the streets because their parents are gay haters, they get state funds based on tax from companies ), we have no pension funding here with speculation, it's all about taxes hence pension are paid with taxes. So This is really a disgusting move. like ' I'm destroying your social system, offering you shitty job on the lowest wage possible, I destroy local economy and yet I'm so generous with our support programs… F that. I saw an Apple ads about how generous they are and all. same shit. (worse when you see how they work in china) . theses companies are just evil .
We are at war with them. In my country every other day 1 farmer commit suicide. There are casualties. If you are european be responsible. if you can buy somewhere else do it and vote for the right person
But I'm confident before I'm dead the European union wont exist anymore hence they WILL pay ;D -

It works fine for amazon.de aswell. As for paying taxes: of course I blame the politicians. But I blame Amazon & Co too. Companies, especially the big ones do have obligations to society, in my opinion.

Sounds a bit strange that Amazon does it because of tax-offs.
