Never had HIV and STD tests
-
I'm sexually active with multiple partners over the years, and yet I had never been tested for HIV or STD due to the embarrassment of asking these type of tests (mainly because an HIV test is mostly related to gay sex)
a few times I had an unprotected sex and I really think I should get tested for the peace of mind.can I get tested without having to ask the doctor?
thanks.

really depends on what country you live in and within your country what's offered. Most places in the world offer anonymous HIV and STI testing. Nothing to be embarrassed about and can be scary, but it's well worth your time and efforts. Remember it's not only for you, but for the people you're hooking up with. IF you live in the USA or Canada or some other countries, you can either order a test to your home or even go to the pharmacy and pick up a test (if in the USA or Canada, you can use the oral test and find out right at home within 20 minutes).
Please get tested.

Yes… I agree fully... I don't know about in your country, but in a lot of countries, they offer this testing anonymously for free. Here, the way it works is that the only time they require you to identify yourself is if you have a test come back positive. That way, there's no record that traces back to you that can come back to haunt you, unless it comes back positive, in which case they have to report it to public health (at least here in Canada anyway).
I would strongly recommend that you get the test because if you do have something, the sooner you catch it, the better off that you are, especially if you have a coinfection with HIV and something else.

It never hurts.

Oh… I can also say with confidence as someone living with HIV since 2009 that if you do test positive, while it may be a shock at first, in the end, you'll be glad that you did because knowing sooner rather than later can avoid some rather nasty complications. Also, once you adjust to it, you'll be a lot better off knowing your status, than finding out the hard way when you're extremely sick and in the hospital
