Among new faces, I'm seen as the jockbro but once people know me, it's the opposite seeing my interest. Is that a common thing to morph in the eyes of people from the "straight fun guy" into the guy with stereotypical gay interests?

Definitely. And since I have pretty much no stereotypical gay interests, it's even more absurd.
