Finding Apartments

What's the best way you've found your next house/home/apartment? Zillow seems selective and Craigslist doesn't yield consistent results.

I imagine this varies by location but around here every landlord uses an agent now. You used to be able to just rent from a landlord but now we are stuck with these blood sucking middle men. They charge a fee which the tenant may or may not have to pay which drives up the cost of moving. It cost $9000 the last time I moved. It's insane.

Apartments:Especially if it's in a big metropolitan area, just find complexes near where you work and ask if they have any vacant units. Look for signs outside saying they are now renting.
You can use Craigslist as well too, however there are many scams for apartments on there.
It's best just to look around for complexes which are renting.
Houses:You can use Zillow as a tool to see whats available and what the market is like, or see what others have paid in the area you want to live in, or look for any hot offers which you can't pass up.
But a real estate company would also be good to use as well.

Grindr and Tinder can surprisingly help if you're straightforward about your intentions. Also, try mutual friends and FB.
