Help ID a gay thme book!!!!

I'm trying to find a book that I read a long time ago but I just can't seem to remember the title. Here is as much of the plot that I can remember :
Its about two boys in medieval times(?) I guess. One is a prince while the other is a peasant boy and both are training to be fighters in the King's army. The story finds both of them out of the palace when its attacked and everybody is killed including the royal family.
So know they both need to help each other survive even if they hated each other in the beginning
]I forgot to mention that both boys fall in love with each other during the middle of the book even though they both were attracted to each in the beginning of the book.
