Upload amount dropping/changing negatively
-
Hi there,
New to the site but have tried the FAQ and can't quite find what I need: my upload amount suddenly changed, about 600 MB suddenly disappeared off my total from a few hours ago the uploaded per day figure dropped drastically too, in just a few hours. I have also been logged in all day trying to get my ratio up but the site says I've only been logged in for 3 minutes… what is going on? Anyone? All helpful answers appreciated

The login duration you see is that visiting the Forum (only) and has absolutely nothing to do with your share ratio. It doesn't count visiting other locations of GayTorrent.ru like the "Search" torrent list, your "Profile" or the "Home" page.
It would be interesting to know at which "total" you are looking. Is it the UL / DL numbers in the middle below the blue menu bar OR is it the UL/DL to a torrent in the Profile?
The tracker only ADDS to the grand total UL and DL in the middle below the blue menu bar. So that getting less is a first time heard complaint… :crazy2:
However, if you look in your Profile to a torrent's UL / DL, as these numbers are tracker connection session based, they reset to zero after each session (of course all the sessions UL / DL is added to the grand total).
What counts to your UL, DL and Seed Bonus Points for seeding is running your torrent client, not being on the site.
You should read about the First Time Upload Program in the Forum and try to claim the 600 bonus points (conditions apply).

Thank you for all the information… referring to the problem of uploaded numbers dropping... it is indeed the number in the middle under the blue menu bar. Yesterday it was over 800mb then suddenly dropped to 200mb and the daily upload numbers dropped from around 2.95 mb daily to .29 or something ridiculous. I have also been seeding all night long and today my upload numbers haven't moved at all :blownose:
I don't understand

wotsit, just because you are connected and your torrent client says 'seeding' doesn't mean you are uploading anything. My torrent client tells me I am 'seeding' 101 torrents (I know, I'm too lazy to weed them right now) - it also tells me I am not uploading anything because no-one wants any of those torrents at the moment.
I can't really help with your other problems as I don't really understand them. I'd suggest you pick a couple of freeleech torrents with plenty of downloaders or posting a torrent of your own (do the search before you do the work). With that you get upload and possible bonus points

Ah yes this I do know
I'm also watching the activity on the torrents I'm seeding page and I can see which are moving according to the site, even with the ones that are moving and active my total hadn't changed one bit all night.
I also uploaded a file (after doing the search) and it was around that time my totals went mental.
I'll just keep chugging on for a bit longer but if anyone else has an explanation for the sudden loss of 600mb I'm all ears

This too would be news to me to see that the tracker has removed from your totals. I have never before heard of this. There is another thing to take into account as well….
Torrent clients will only update the tracker usually once every 30 minutes, so the amount of data reflected on the tracker may not necessarily be the same number that's reflected in your torrent client for two reasons. The first is that most torrent clients include overhead traffic in the calculation of their totals, however the tracker will only account for the actual data transferred, ignoring the extra little bit for the network overhead to do things like send the statistics to the tracker, update the list of peers, etc. The other reason is that say for example you're uploading or downloading something at some 500KB/s and the tracker updates.... Your torrent client will only report the data that has been transmitted up to the point of the new transmission of information. This process only takes a matter of seconds, so despite that you're still transferring, the total numbers may appear to be different. That being said however, it's not a matter of the torrent client won't report it, but rather is a matter of when the torrent client will update the tracker.
I see on your profile that you have indeed seeded a fair bit more than is stated in the original post. Am I to assume correctly that this means that you've continued to seed as to increase this total?

At least now your numbers have considerably gown up …
Are you sure it were 200 MB and not 200 KB? With uploading an own torrent a jump from 200 KB (from seeding back downloaded torrents with low demand) to 800 MB is very possible.
The tracker adds upload and download to the totals. Negative delta between two announcements by your client are very unlikely (never seen that, except cheating clients and here for download only >:D )
