From my observation, the forum runs on a different, yet somewhat synchronized login, which does not expire in the same manner that the main site login does. In some cases, I have trolled the forums and even posted things to the forum while "logged out" of the main site, as long as I do not log out of the forum as well.
The only difference between martyrdom and suicide is press coverage!
