Movie starting with a cross-country run with runners in jockstraps

Not really a request or an ID. Just something that has been running through my mind.
I just have a vague recollection of seeing a movie which started out with this cross country run. I think it had a fraternity/hazing theme. And may have had a death in there somewhere.
I have searched IMDB using the keywords, fraternity, hazing, jockstraps, run and even military academy (although I don't think it is that) and only come up with ones I know it's not.
Perhaps it's just the ramblings of an ageing movie watcher but perhaps someone can recall seeing it
